What was once Presentation Sister’s Convent, established in 1899, has now been converted into a luxurious, welcoming and peaceful 4.5 star, AAA-rated hotel. Directions

If arriving by car from the Launceston airport, Hobart or Devonport, you will arrive via Highway 1. Highway 1 becomes Bathurst Street as it enters the outskirts of the CBD. Drive for one kilometer along Bathurst Street to Frederick Street and turn left into Frederick Street. Brickfields reserve will be on your left. Continue along Frederick Street past the first intersection (Margaret Street and Frederick Street). The entrance to Auldington Hotel is on the right along the next block. Look for a low brick fence with an illuminated Auldington sign.

If using GPS, it is best to look for 71 Frederick Street (a Pathology). The entrance to Auldington Hotel is located directly opposite the Pathology.

  • Auldington is perfectly situated – just a 15 minute walk from the centre of Launceston’s CBD but on a peaceful and quiet location, with elevated views of our landscaped gardens, the Church of Apostles, Central and East Launceston and the mountain ranges beyond
  • There is a Metro bus stop outside of Auldington’s front entrance, as well as the free Tiger Tourist bus stop outside Princes Park, a few blocks along Frederick Street
  • Auldington is the closest hotel to the Cataract Gorge First Basin car park – just a minute or two up the road
  • Auldington is just two blocks away from a major supermarket
  • Auldington is close to some of Launceston’s best restaurants and cafes, such as Stillwater, Jail House Grill and Cuccina Cafe

"Exceptional" The receptionist is great, he is through with the city introduction with passion. The hotel sits in a convenient location, walking distance to the city center and all, not to mention the Netflix in the TV and the seemingly modern room provided. And the price is good.

"Auldington is a pleasant place to stay with easy access to city and Gorge area." Great location and lovely surroundings. Very efficient and helpful check-in. Good shower and bathroom products.

"Very pleasant stay and central to Launceston" It is an old building but has been refurbed to an excellent standard. The gardens are beautiful and the view from the sitting room is across the city views. The check in was exceptional - a very polite young man who even showed us to our room and explained everything. The room was a good size and the bathroom was very good indeed. A very pleasant stay and very close to town.
