Lovingly styled with a French provincial theme, Athelney Cottage is a stunning self contained cottage nestled amongst some of the oldest trees in the heart of Adelaide. We welcome you to relax and unwind in the charm of our modern country bed and breakfast.

The Cottage is located near the National Wine Centre and Adelaide Botanic Gardens, providing a secluded getaway only minutes from the many activities Adelaide has to offer and positioning you to easily travel further afield.

This self-contained bed & breakfast cottage will provide you with a “home away from home” (as recommended by Delicious magazine and SA Tourism Commission), including breakfast provisions and all the comfort and modern conveniences you’d expect.

Offering privacy and relaxation, it is perfect for couples and comfortably accommodates up to four people in your choice of either “The Cottage” or the “Executive Suite“. The two are separated by a private courtyard which can be opened up if you need both; ideal for wedding parties and larger groups.

Whichever one you choose… both will provide you with comfort and have everything you need.

The cottage overlooks a small courtyard situated under an arbour of grape vines. A barbeque and outdoor furniture are provided so you can make the most of this unique outdoor setting.

Athelney Cottage Bed and Breakfast is in a fantastic location for whatever you want to do on your visit to South Australia. Several major Adelaide attractions are within walking distance from the b & b cottage. There is a major bus stop one minute away that can take you almost anywhere you want to go, including the city, the beach, the airport, even our world renowned wine regions. Of course, we can help and point you in the right direction.

  • The Cottage is not suitable for 2 couples, but is ok for 3 adults or parents with 2 teenage children. For 2 couples, please also book the Executive Suite OR Westbury Cottage (* Breakfast not included at Westbbury Cottage)

Onsite Parking

At Athelney Cottage there is space for 1 small to medium sized car in the carport. Loaded 4WD’s have difficulty getting in and out as the driveway has a bend in it just before going into the carport and the roller door limits access – 2.25 metres high x 2.35 metres wide. However, we do have a permit pass for 1 vehicle to park on the street if you can’t fit your car into the carport.

Cancellation policy 
Cancellations prior to 30 days will incur a 50% cancellation fee
Cancellations within 30 days will incur 100% cancellation fee

Cancellation fees will be held in credit for 6 months for use at a mutually agreed time.

Any cancellations or changes to your booking must be made by calling direct (phone provided once booking accepted)

"Exceptional" It was spacious, private and in a great location. The breakfast provided was lovely and more than adequate for our needs. The kitchen and bathroom was well stocked with everything you need. Our host Rosie was friendly and helpful. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

This is lovely retreat perfect for relaxing and exploring the city. Across the road from the botanical gardens and only a 2km walk to just about anywhere. If travelling with a pet, the courtyard isn't totally secure so be aware of that. Would recommend this place to anyone.
