Staying at the Miners Cottage is to enjoy a uniquely Australian rural experience. The Miners Cottage is situated at the edge of the South Australian wine region the Barossa Valley, a region that can boast making a large portion of Australia’s finest premium wines. The region is steeped in the history of its founding pioneers and presents an abundant opportunity to taste at some of Australia’s most iconic wine companies cellar doors. Add to that some excellent restaurants, all with a wine focus, a wonderful farmers’ market and plenty of good shopping, especially well-priced antiques, vintage clothing and books.

The Miners Cottage complex includes The Miners Cottage Barn and The Miners Cottage Lavender Cabin can accommodate a maximum of six persons with three double bedrooms with queen size beds, one of which can be split into two single beds. Three couples can enjoy completely independent privacy and enjoy the communal areas of the cottage and of course the lap pool and entertainment area around the pool. Each section of the Miners Cottage accommodation is a separate entity and all enjoy individual stunning Australian bush land views with magnificent ancient gums and abundant wild life.

Terms & conditions

Terms and Conditions of Accommodation at The Miners Cottage

  1. Definitions

    “Booking” means the period for which you have paid to stay at the property.

    “Property” means The Miners Cottage, 111 Goldfields Rd, Cockatoo Valley, SA 5351 and all its fixtures, fittings and equipment.

    “Management” means the owners and managers of the Property.

    “Guests” means the persons who stay overnight in the Property during the Booking.

    “Visitor” means a person a guest permits to visit the Property during the booking.

     

  2. Acceptance & Responsibility

  3. Payment of the Deposit constitutes acceptance of these Terms and Conditions.

     

  4. Check In / Check Out

  5. Check in time is not before 2.30pm on the arrival date and check out time is not later than 11.00am on departure date.

  6. Late Departure is subject to prior arrangement and availability and extra charges will apply.

  7. You must notify Management of expected arrival time and a mobile contact number at least 1 day before arrival.

  8. Check in/checkout and key collection/return will be as follows unless special arrangements have been made prior to arrival.Management are usually able to meet you on arrival, if not a key will be left and you will be advised of instructions.On departure please leave the key on the hook by the door.

     

  9. Payment

  10. OPTION A – Stayz Online Payment System

  11. When using the Stayz Online Payment System, your Booking is split into two portions - the non-refundable deposit and the remaining balance. You may pay both portions (the full amount) in Australian dollars, up front or pay the deposit initially and subsequently pay the remaining balance.

  12. Balance of the rental amount will be automatically debited 14 days prior to occupancy. If you do not have sufficient funds available at that time you will be responsible for payment of all fees and charges. Where you stay commences in less than 4 weeks from the time of Booking, the payment must be paid in full up front.

  13. OPTION B - Direct EFT payment

    A deposit of 50% (minimum) must be received within 2 days after the Booking is taken by Management. Bookings are not confirmed unless and until this deposit is received.

  14. Payment in full must be received no later than 2 weeks prior to your arrival.

  15. Payments of the amount due must be received in Australian $ net of any bank or other transaction charges.

  16. Please ensure payments are made within the specified time limits or the booking will be cancelled automatically without notice or liability to you.

  17. We accept payments by the following methods: direct deposit into our bank account, Bpay, credit card using Stayz online payment system, bank cheque or money order.

  18. Personal cheques will be accepted if received at least 30 days prior to arrival. Cash payments are not accepted.

  19. A credit card surcharge of $5 per night will be levied to cover transaction costs associated with credit card payments.

5. Cancellation or Variation

As a very small boutique accommodation business, cancellations often result in an empty cottage due to booking lead times. If you wish to vary or cancel your Booking, please contact us immediately

  • Your deposit is non-refundable in the event of a cancellation.

  • If you have paid more than the deposit or paid in full and cancel your Booking you will be refunded the balance payment, if eligible.

  • Should you be eligible for a refund it will be made through your chosen payment at the time of Booking.

  • A variation which reduces the number of nights stay will be treated as a cancellation of the booking in respect to those nights.

  • We have a minimum nights stay policy of 2 nights. No refund will be made for a variation to the extent that it breaches our minimum nights stay policy.

  • A variation of the Booking which reduces the number of guests will be treated as a cancellation of the Booking in respect of those guests

  • An administration fee will be charged for any variation or cancellation.

  • If Management is able to relet the Property for the period cancelled a further refund may be made less administration charges, commissions and expenses.

  • Cancellations notified more than 30 days prior to the first date booked will be entitled to a refund of the full tariff minus a 30% administration fee. Alternatively the booking can be held in credit to be used at a future date (within 6 months & subject to availability.)

  • Cancellations notified 30 days or less and more than 14 days prior to the first date booked will forfeit 50% of the full tariff.

  • Cancellations notified 14 days or less prior to the first date booked will forfeit all monies paid.

  • Any refunds payable are subject to further adjustment for any costs, bank fees or commissions paid (third party agencies, credit card merchant fees etc).

     

  • Security Bond

  • A bond payment of $200 is required at the same time as the outstanding balance of your Booking. It will be credited to your designated payment method once your property has been inspected and deemed left in a similar state to your arrival. We agree to ensure this occurs within 7 working days of your departure.

  • Any damage, loss or expense incurred by Management as a result of your breach of these Terms and Conditions will be charged against the bond. Examples of this include but are not limited to any breakage, damage or excess cleaning requirements, extra guests beyond those declared.

     

  • Unavailability

    If the Property becomes unavailable for your occupancy due to unforeseen circumstances (e.g. Fire, storm, damage etc.) then Management will inform you immediately and endeavour to obtain suitable alternative accommodation for your occupancy; failing which any monies will be paid in full.

  • Parties & Functions

  • Parties and functions require prior approval at the time of Booking and special conditions will apply including extra charges, guests remain responsible for persons attending, no disturbance of neighbours, no undue noise, quiet when entering and leaving the premises, no behaviour likely to cause damage to property or offence or embarrassment to others, all noise to cease by 11.45pm.

  • Breach of this condition may result in immediate termination and eviction without refund and extra charges for security, garbage removal, wear and tear, repairs etc.

     

  • Linen and Towels

  • We supply linen, pillows, quilts towels and robes which must be left where supplied in the bedrooms or bathrooms on departure. Pool towels are also included.

  • Cleaning and linen change occurs weekly or more often upon request and at additional cost.

     

  • Pets

  • Small dogs under 14kg are allowed at the property. An additional $50 pet cleaning charge will be added. Pet owners are responsible for cleaning up after their pets both within and outside the property. Pets are not allowed on furniture at any times. Any evidence of pets on furniture may incur extra cleaning fees.

     

11. Your Other Responsibilities

  • You must comply with all applicable House Rules and all instructions from Management and the Caretakers of Property concerning occupancy, property, health, safety and quiet enjoyment of the Property and our neighbours.

  • You are responsible for damage, breakages, theft and loss of the Property and any part of it during your stay. You must notify us of this immediately. Management may recover from you repair or replacement costs (at Management’s discretion)

  • Only the guests nominated and agreed in the Booking may stay in the Property overnight. If any other guests stay extra charges may apply or the agreement may be terminated without refund.

  • Disturbance to our neighbours, including excessive noise, is prohibited and may result in termination and eviction without refund and extra charges for security and other expenses.

  • Before departure all rubbish must be put in the bins provided and crockery and cutlery washed and packed away. The Property must be left in a clean tidy condition.

  • Extra cleaning charges may be incurred for the cleaning of dirty dishes, washing machine, dishwasher, removal of excessive rubbish etc.Should the cleaning fee be more than the usual cost for cleaning the property, you will be charged the additional costs over and above the normal cleaning fee. This will be deducted from the security bond.

  • All furniture and furnishings must be left in the position they were in when our arrived

  • The property should be vacated on time and secured. All windows and doors are to be locked.All keys must be returned to Management or as otherwise directed.

  • You are responsible for the safekeeping and replacement of accommodation keys.

  • Smoking is not permitted in the property

     

  • Problems or Complaints

  • In the case of any problem or complaint, you must inform management a the earliest opportunity so Management has the chance to rectify the situation as quickly and as efficiently as possible. You must allow repair/service access to the property during reasonable hours.

  • Any complaint, which cannot be resolved locally, must be notified in writing to Management prior to departure from the Property.

  • Failure to follow this procedure may hinder the ability of Management to rectify the problem or complaint and reduce or extinguish any claim you may have.

 

We recommend all guests purchase travel insurance since Management are not responsible for and injuries, illness, or accidents that may occur whilst staying at our property, loss of luggage or cancellation of travel.
