Potter's Oceanside Motel is a 5-minute drive from Mackay Entertainment Convention Centre and a 7-minute drive from Caneland Central shopping centre. Mackay Airport is a 14-minute drive away. A free airport and city shuttle is available upon request.

The Bluewater Trail passes Potter’s Oceanside Motel, and leads through the picturesque Sandfly Creek Environmental walk, towards the city centre. Follow the banks of the Pioneer River, Queensland’s only blue water river, passing impressive public art sculptures. Parks and playgrounds

Iluka Park is an all-abilities playground, designed for children with and without disabilities to be able to play and discover side-by-side. The colourful, interactive playground is located only a few minutes’ walk from Potter’s Oceanside Motel, beside Town Beach. Queens Park is a spacious recreation area, located within a five minute walk from Potter’s Oceanside Motel. The expansive parklands feature mature trees and large fields, perfect for a family game of cricket, or a morning run. The Orchid House at Queens Park is a popular tourist attraction, hosting a range of native and exotic orchid varieties for the public to view.

Beaches

The Mackay region is home to more than 30 different beaches, many of them are patrolled and safe for swimming, while others are popular for crabbing and fishing. Town Beach is a short stroll from Potter’s Oceanside Motel, and offers stunning views of the rising sun, from behind the islands that fringe the Great Barrier Reef. The beach is rarely crowded, and more often than not, our guests who take a morning stroll along the sand often comment on the peacefulness and serenity, often being the only people on the beach.

 

Explore the Eungella

Breathtakingly beautiful and ecologically diverse, Eungella National Park is one of the Mackay Region’s most treasured destinations. Walk a trail to a beautiful waterfall in Finch Hatton Gorge, or fly through the treetops of the rainforest on a zip-wire. Spot the playful platypus in its natural environment from the viewing platform at Broken River, or scuba dive the waters of the rainforest to discover the unique marine life. Potter’s Oceanside Motel is only a one hour drive from the township of Finch Hatton, an ideal base if you are planning a day-trip into the Eungella’s ancient sub-tropical rainforest.

Mackay is approximately an eight hour drive from Cairns, or an eleven hour drive from Brisbane.

We are located in the peaceful suburb of East Mackay, on a quiet road, away from the noise of the main highway, or the CBD.

We are 7km from Mackay Airport, less than a ten minute drive.

Located on Gordon Street East, our motel is only 1.5km from the heart of Mackay’s CBD, less than four minutes to drive.

Our nearest beach is Town Beach, a short stroll from the motel.
