Description
Delightful stone cottage on acreage
The Gatehouse has been lovingly constructed using natural building materials, mostly recycled and reclaimed, and boasts many sustainability features such as solar power and water recycling for the garden.
The cottage is warm and welcoming with a rustic charm but with modern amenities to ensure a comfortable stay. The cottage looks out over the garden where you will sometimes see our resident wallabies and lyrebirds. It is set across the garden from the main house but it is fully self-contained with a carport attached. The access is level with no steep steps or obstacles. Amenities include a modern kitchen with induction cook-top, air conditioning, heating, TV, and internet and there is a great collection of books, games, and DVDs for your entertainment.
There is a double bed in the bedroom and in the living area there is a double sofa bed with a sprung mattress and a single bed with a foam mattress. The space can accommodate up to 5 people but is best suited to 2-4 people.
The north-facing veranda is perfect for enjoying the day's sunshine or relaxing at sunset and there is a private garden area beside the Gatehouse with a barbeque and outdoor setting. You are free to wander around the main garden and through our private bush.
We are always happy to share our produce when available. We have a small flock of chickens and we are beekeepers.
We are a short drive from all the best bushwalks, cafes, and attractions the Blue Mountains has to offer with Katoomba being only 6 kms away and Leura 4 kms.
The Gatehouse is perfect for a quiet, relaxing getaway.
Other things to note
Pets are 'by arrangement' as we have no fence and lots of wildlife. We also keep a horse on the property.

"A true gem in the beautiful Blue Mountains" Gatehouse at Mirimiri is a really beautiful place to stay, and the hosts Louise and Rick are absolutely delightful. It is obvious from the detail of this rare cottage that a great deal of effort has been put into this home and the hosts are genuinely welcoming anyone staying there. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Gatehouse despite a jolt of freezing windy winter weather, and are looking forward to our return. We loved staying at The Gatehouse! It is very comfortable, stylish and has all sorts of thoughtful touches that add to the enjoyment of the stay. We arrived on a very cold and windy night and found the cottage toasty warm as Louise had turned on the heater, and she popped by shortly later to make sure we had all we needed. Going for a walk on the property and meeting the horses and chickens the next morning was an extra treat. Thank you Louise

Louise and her husband are great people. They have fresh eggs, honey and we have even been given fresh lemons from the garden/their hives and chicken. Their barn is nicely decorated and clean. It is probably more suited for a family with children, than for 4 adults

Great little spot to explore the beautiful blue mountains. A little off the beaten track which was lovely but very close to great vistas and walks. Everything you need and more in the little cottage.
