Description
“Camphill Cottage” as it has been known in the district since 1860 - is not just a farm stay - it’s an echo of a time zone - one of confident simplicity, dramatic landscapes and birdsong chorus. Situated a five minute drive from the cafes, antique shops and old pubs of historic Rylstone, it is the ideal option for those seeking peace, privacy, space and authenticity.
This charming, rustic cottage offers two queen size bedrooms and a large mezzanine loft with two single beds (sleeping a total of six). All beds are endowed with quality manchester and electric blankets. The large living area is equipped with a cosy wood fire and reverse cycle air conditioner. A glass enclosed verandah on the northern side looks out over a large dam to the mountains and at sunset will still the buzziest mind. The eastern verandah looks toward original haysheds and horse stables from a bygone era.
The cottage is situated on a horse establishment where horses graze the green paddocks bound by post and rail fencing. The property dates back to the 1860s and had it’s origins as a blacksmith’s shop forging horse shoes, farm implements, carriage wheels and tools necessary for life in the Central West. The original stone “blacksmith’s forge” still stands to this day located on the 60 acre property.
The gardens are a mixture of native and deciduous trees and plants providing shade and habitat for native fauna such as wombats, wallabies and native birdlife. The autumn colours are magniicent in traffic stopping reds, rusts, pinks, magenta and golds.

"Tranquil vista" Our family enjoyed our stay en route to Dubbo. The property was absolutely spotless and every item I used in the kitchen was sparklingly clean. It was so thoughtful of Janet to have the fire going for our arrival. The outlook was so relaxing and tranquil and the kids fell in love with Harry the horse. We enjoyed lazing in the garden and on the lawn watching the sun go down.

"Beautiful retreat" We had a wonderful relaxing stay. Close enough to Rylestone and Kandos to catch Cementa 19 and see friends and far enough to enjoy the peace of the country. Everything was perfect including the breakky provisions and wonderful marmalade.

"Tidy, clean & a country feel. Beds were very comfortable. Janet was great, nothing was too much." A great base to explore the area. Enjoyed Yum Cha in Rylstone for lunch. Dinner at the Globe hotel was fun, generous portions. Dunns Swamp was gorgeous. Mudgee via Lue was a fabulous drive...lunch at Moothi Estate was great, shared plates & delicious wine. Camphill Cottage was extremely comfortable, warm & toasty inside. Kids slept really well. Loved feeding the horses & walking the property. Even tired out our Boarder Collie. Janet was a jem, very knowledgeable of the area & catered to all request.

"Fantastic Getaway Spot" We had such a great weekend at Camphill Cottage, the location is perfect, so close to town but feels like you are miles from anywhere. The cabin is well equipt with good heating, linen and cooking needs. Janet was a great host and nothing was too much trouble, the kids (and adults) loved checking out the horses and being a part of feeding time. We all loved the town of Rylestone and a trip to De Beaurepaire Winery is a must. We are already planning our next trip!
