An original Southern Highlands historic property

Southdown was the original 335 acre 1857 Burradoo property.
Late in the 1880's it was reduced to 35 acres after being cut up for the Holly Park Estate, that now forms most what we know as Burradoo today.
It had been a summer house /property for Sydney establishment and Queensland cattle property owner.
In the 1880's it was owned by Sydney MLA John Lackey and later that century was a school for girls.
During the 1920 the famous "Southdown" riding school was established and remained that way until the late 1960's.

"A charming winter stay" My husband and I stayed for two nights with our teenage daughter and her friend. Driving in the driveway through the front gates sent an “ooohhhhh” through the car, and we weren’t disappointed. We all loved the cute cottage. The beds were warm and very comfy. The cottage was very cozy. As a tech loving family we all appreciated access to wifi and the provision of netflix and foxtel. Margaret had kindly provided us with plenty of breakfast supplies. We enjoyed wandering the grounds of this charming estate. Thank you Margaret for making us feel so welcome.

I stayed here for the first time for a girls weekend away. It was absolutely perfect. The cosy quaint vintage style was perfect for a winter weekend away. It was clean and warm. The little touches of fresh flowers in rooms and a lovely breakfast basket just added that little extra detail. I look forward to staying here again and would highly recommend. If a cosy cottage style is what your after then this is it. The gardens were beautiful and margaret was a pleasure to deal with.
