Description
LA RIVERAINE Hawkesbury River
CHARMING & ROMANTIC COTTAGE
SUNKEN HEATED PLUNGE POOL
PRIVATE BOAT SHED
JUST FOR TWO AND A LITTLE BIT FRENCH
The original 50’s design of this charming riverside cottage was carefully preserved when totally refurbished in 2018. All the charm and elegance of this era has been brought back to life, and a heated plunge/spa added to the tropical terrace garden. French doors opening on to terraces make the most of the beautiful river views.
Fresh, luminous, airy and inviting, La Riveraine is an intimate retreat just for two in a stunning very peaceful location.
A romantic bedroom, a truly indulgent bathroom with deep stone bath, and a stylish chefs kitchen add understated luxury laced with a little nostalgia to this tranquil retreat. Wide steel frame windows are dressed with plantation shutters throughout. The living area opens onto a generous, covered verandah perfumed with Gardenia and Jasmine, and shaded in summer by a flowering Jacaranda. The kitchen gives on to a cool stone covered court yard .
With beautiful views over the river and boat shed below, La Riveraine gives being ‘away from it all’ a whole new meaning.
The sunken plunge pool (heated in cooler months) is set in a tropical terrace garden. A stone Buddha statue, perfumed frangipanis, and potted citrus trees surround the pool. This is a place to take refuge from the summer heat. or swim at midnight watching the moonlight settle on the river.
For Al Fresco dining there is a choice of three terraces to suit all weather.
During the winter weeks a log burning combustion fire adds to the ambience.
The original boat shed sits right over the river just below the house. Here, an afternoon siesta in the hammock or a nap on the day bed will put you on ‘river time’ in a moment. ....Or, from a big comfortable chair simply watch the world pass by, read, drop a line or enjoy a glass of wine while the sun sets over the Hawkesbury.

"The perfect place to relax and recharge" We had the most wonderful time at the beautiful la riveraine. We chose to explore the dam and hike to the top for the sensational views, the cottage was perfect so warm and inviting and the personal touches Annie added to make us feel welcome were wonderful. The boat shed is one of a kind and was well used by us , sitting and enjoying the view was never hard to do. To top off our amazing days we would spend the afternoons enjoy the spa and the spectacular view over the water as the sun went down and the stars came out . I could not recommend this property enough for a romantic getaway and of course Annie, who was the perfect host.

I’ve been to this beautiful spot twice now, both summer and winter. What an exquisitely beautiful place! Accessible only by boat, it’s a perfect place to wind down and get away from it all. The house is a little slice of French countryside and beautifully decorated. The bed is a fairytale bed with luxurious linens provided, a canopy (!) and I slept soundly for the first time in a long time. The kitchen is a chef’s delight (very well equipped with quality utensils), with thoughtful condiments provided by the owner. The verandah is an open invitation to dine “al fresco” whilst overlooking the river. The petite pool is an oasis of cool relief in summer, and warm toastiness in winter...all while enjoying the surrounds of nature and a view to die for. I spent quite a bit of time in the pool! The boat shed is the perfect place for afternoon cocktails and watching river life go by. Oh, and did I mention the bathroom? The giant bath tub kept me in there for hours! The owner of the property thought about every tiny detail to make us comfortable and at home, all in the midst of exquisite surroundings. La Riveraine is a haven of taste, luxury and serenity. I can’t wait to go back!

Perfect place for our baby moon! La Riveraine was luxurious and romantic. The house was comfortable and also very chic with the right amount of decorating that it had character without feeling cluttered. The outdoor spa felt very private and was a beautiful place to spend the evening when we weren’t relaxing by the fire. The kitchen was well stocked with good quality tools and utensils. The owners really thought of everything and were very helpful. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a peaceful and luxurious haven in the Hawkesbury.

Highly recommend for a couples retreat if you’re after a unique, secluded and relaxing staycation. We loved the recharge and connection with nature during the day, out by the water fishing or a hiking up to the dam, and indulging in creature comforts during the night with homemade dinners in a beautiful and well stocked kitchen, luxurious bubble baths, cozying up by the fireplace with a good book or the occasional Netflix to mix things up a little. Even through the two days of wet weather, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and our stay. Annie was also wonderfully hospitable and accomodating when it came to organising the stay as well as ensuring we got to and from the cottage safely. 10 out of 10 and will be locking in another visit next summer!
