Description

Lavendale Farm is the ideal destination for families, couples or groups to enjoy a country retreat or short holiday. We have seven self-contained one, two and three bedroom cottages and a farmhouse bed ‘n’ breakfast room. Two of our cottages can be combined to make a 5 bedroom house, with conference or meeting room facilities for families or business groups. At Lavendale Farm our aim is to provide a safe and relaxing environment for you to enjoy nature and the world of animals.

Lavendale Farm is situated 15K south of York in Western Australia on the banks of the Avon River. The property is approximately 64ha of gently sloping land lying between Great Southern Highway and the river.

There is a 2.5km river frontage which is fenced off from the main farming activities. All of the river bank area is natural bush and the property is a "Land for Wildlife" site.

The country style farm house was completed in July 2007 and offers beautiful views of the surrounding hills and farmland. Lavendale Farm is a place to come and relax under the wide verandahs, watch the animals graze and walk among the vast array of native Australian trees which have been planted as shelter belts and hosts in the sandalwood plantation.

"Aussie Bush"- Our Solar Powered Self Contained Cottage has a long, wide veranda for its outdoor setting and BBQ. Inside the spacious living area is a comfy chesterfield and pot belly stove for those cold winter nights. One bedroom has a colonial style queen bed and the other has sleeping for three inn a double and single bed. There is a claw foot bath in the bathroom and a separate shower. Again, TV, DVD, games and books. Air-conditioning for summer, Wood fire for winter.

"Valencia"- Solar Powered Self Contained Cottage is a Mediterranean style house with two bedrooms, an elegant bathroom with long bath and separate shower, and a huge living area. We have TV, DVD player and board games, puzzles and books. An enclosed wood fire will keep you warm in winter with evap. air conditioning in summer. There is an attractive patio with outdoor setting and BBQ. One room has a huge French provincial queen size bed and the other room has 3 single bed. We have cots and high chairs available. Air-conditioning for summer, Wood fire for winter.

"Bali Hai" has a tropical island theme. There is a 4 poster bed in one room, a double and single in the other. Patio and decking with a water feature. Again, your own BBQ. This cottage has a huge bathroom with corner bath. Evaporative air-conditioning keeps you cool in summer. These three cottages have electricity provided by our solar power generating unit. They have their own rain water tanks and have gas hot water services and cook tops. We have microwave ovens, toasters, stove top kettle and lots of pots and pans and crockery.

"The Lodge" has 3 bedrooms and sleeping for 8 people. There is a huge patio and bush garden. A rompus room and laundry is attached. This unit is fully wheelchair accessible and the bathroom has special fittings. Able bodied people will love the extra space. Drive right up to the front door. We have a 2 night minimum stay for The Lodge. Air-conditioning for summer, Wood fire for winter.

Our newest unit "Kirribilli" adjoins The Lodge. This 2 bedroom modern unit can sleep up to 6 people in single and king size beds. A small conference room separates The Lodge from Kirribilli. Great for large family groups or for corporate team building events. 2 new one bedroom cottages have just been added.

Beautiful views, romantic get away retreat. We have not put laundries in the cottages. We can provide a personal laundry service for our guests if required. You'll enjoy the the communal campfire which we light, weather permitting in the evenings during winter. Great fun. Bring some marsh-mallows!

Directions

How and where to find us!

In the heart of the Avon Valley in Western Australia’s wheatbelt area is the Historical town of York. York was the first inland town settled by the Swan River Colony in 1833. It is just 96Km from the centre of Perth. About an hour and 20 minutes from the domestic air-port or an hour and 30 mins from the international air-port.

To reach York drive through the Perth hills to Mundaring and continue on through Sawyers Valley. The turn off to York is at the BP Lakes Service Station.

Lavendale Farm is just 10 minute drive south of York on the main Beverley Road. About 13km out of York is the BE20 marker, indicating Beverley is 20Km away. At this sign is the first of our Lavendale Farmstay signs, indicating our entrance is 1km further on. Drive past the cottages and our farmhouse to our main entrance. There is another sign at 200m to go. Once in the main entrance drive back along the fenceline to check in at the Farmhouse. If travelling from Beverley, our main entrance is 1km past the Y15 marker. We are on the river side of the road.

If you do not drive or don’t wish to hire a car, consider contacting Happy Go Lucky Tour and Charters.  They have baby seats and booster seats for the children.  0438 930 257

This family owned company can take a group of up to 6 people from Perth to Lavendale Farm, then pick you a day or two or more later and return to Perth.  All for around $400.00. For larger groups of between 6 and 13 the rate is around $500.00.  You might even be able to organise a bit of touring with them.

Local Attractions

Lavendale Farm has plenty to do if you want to just relax close to “home”. The river is a very peaceful place to walk along. It is completely natural and the only paths are made by kangaroos. In places it is hard going, but finding a nice place to sit on the bank is worthwhile.

Always wear boots when walking in the bush. The sandalwood plantation is great to wander through and the animals will always appreciate a scratch behind to ear or a brushing if you are used to horses. The children’s playground is a hit with the kids and parents can relax in the shade of a huge York Gum while watching the children.

Lavendale Farm is an ongoing project. We are always adding to our facilities and our animal family.

  • Very relaxing & enjoyable weekend. We are part of a group of 14 that stayed in several cottages, but Bali Hai became the hub for all our meals & socialising as it has a fantastic outdoor area to cater for us all. Enjoyed having the TV to watch the footy. Beautiful piece of paradise, loved the sunsets. Lots of great memories made.
