THINGS TO DO
We’re surrounded by national park and untouched beaches. Dawn, Dusk, nighttime and sometimes during the day can uncover an amazing array of wildlife such as kangaroos, echidnas, wombats, seals, sting rays, lots of fish and many other water creatures and birds.
Plenty of Surf, estuary and river fishing close by. Also good pipi gathering at low tide.
Local National Parks
We are nestled within The Cape Liptrap Coastal Park. Click here for more info. There is a good lookout point and some great bush walks up the far end of Venus Bay (the opposite way you came in)
Walkerville Beach and Historic Limestone Kilns
Lovely protected (and kid friendly) beach, great for snorkelling, paddling etc. Interesting remnants of the 19th century limestone trade here too. About 25mins drive from Venus Bay. More Info
In the folders on the coffee table there are maps and brochures of things to do in the area. Lots of Info on Venus Bay Here
Massage and Yoga
There's a massage and yoga studio in the street over the back of the house. Go through the back neighbours yard and turn right. It's 50m up on your right. Yoga is usually Tuesday and Thursday evenings and Sunday mornings.
SUGGESTIONS FOR THOSE WITH LITTLE ONES
Sweeping floor twice per day and washing feet under the outdoor shower will help keep sand out of the beds. Outside shower has hot water and getting changed out there can work well.
If your kids are prone we suggest wrist bands or patches that can be purchased from Kmart for night time. Keep bedroom doors closed during the day. Spray the rooms an hour or more before going to bed. Swat any mozzies in the rooms at bed time.
Front Flyscreen Door
Easiest if kids don’t use the large flyscreen door (they can’t turn the handle adequately enough) best they use the front door.
Kid Friendly Beach
There is a non-surf, flat water and relatively shallow inlet that is great for paddling and playing games with kids. It is called Doyle’s Beach on Anderson’s inlet. Access by Doyles Rd. Venus Bay.
Walkerville Beach (see above) is another good option. Beach 1 at Venus Bay is patrolled at some times during school holidays and some weekends.
