Coolum Cottage

Bring the pooch, bring the kids! Pack the golf clubs and the fishing gear! Great three bedroom beach house on the Bellarine Peninsula close to golf, beach, fishing, all amenities. Five minutes' walk to the beachfront, cafes, shops and St Leonard's Hotel. 

Coolum Cottage Beach House is situated at St Leonards - one and a half hours' drive from Melbourne via Geelong. We welcome well-behaved dogs and kids who have a very large, secure garden to play in - including swings and a sandpit with buckets and spades supplied. 

The Cottage is fully self-contained for getaways of 4 nights or more and has that distinct holiday feel from the moment you arrive. There is ducted heating to all rooms and air conditioning in the lounge/ dining and kitchen, a modern bathroom (including bathtub), comfortable beds and fully equipped kitchen for cooking and dining. 

So you don't have to pack too much gear for the little ones (kids that is!), we have melamine bowls, plates and mugs plus some groovy plastic cutlery designed just for kids. And dog bowls are supplied for the family pooch. 

If you're bringing older relatives, we have safety grab rails installed in the bathroom and toilet plus a bathboard to enable easier access to the bath/ shower. We want them to take a break, not break a leg. 

Enjoy drinks on the back porch while the kids and dog play cricket or footy, have a BBQ dinner and watch the pelicans fly overhead - Coolum Cottage is right on their flight path. 

And if the weather is a bit nippy outside, we have a TV, DVD, stereo, plenty of books, magazines and games to pass the time away in the warmth inside. 

If you're an avid golfer, the St Leonards Golf Club is one of the numerous courses easily accessible by car on the Bellarine. If you're a wine buff, there are plenty of excellent wineries throughout the Bellarine Peninsula to spend your time exploring. 

St Leonards offers a great range of eateries from traditional fish n chips to pizza and pasta. Or wander down to the St Leonards Hotel for a meal in the beer garden.

Dear Fellow Four Legs,

Welcome to Coolum Cottage - we're really glad to share our beach doghouse with you! It has the best yard for chasing balls, rolling on grass, watching the postman or just lying around chewing on a bone.

Please feel free to use the dog bowls and the white plastic bowl supplies plenty of drinking water after a hard day's surfing and frolicking.

If you're a little type of dog, we recommend that you hang out in the back yard where your humans can always find you - the front fence is a temptation for escapologists!

We insisted on the couches being available to you, our guests - there are cover sheets available for your use. The beds are a no go zone but you can sleep on the bedroom floor as long as your humans place the supplied covers on the carpet.

There are doggy do bags supplied for your (and our) convenience so please make sure you supervise the humans on their tidy up of your calling cards!

Geelong Council have some declared no go zones for us all in summer as follow:

Between 18 December and 31 January of each year (both dates inclusive), dogs shall not be permitted in the areas designated below:

Between 1 December and 17 December of each year and between 1 February and 30 April of each year (both dates inclusive), dogs shall not be permitted unless restrained by means of a chain, cord or leash in the areas designated below:

St Leonards Beach

On all that area of beach at St Leonards bounded on the north by the prolongation of the centre line (real or imaginary) of Second Avenue extending across the beach to the low water mark of the beach and on the south by the prolongation of the centre line (real or imaginary) of Trewin Street extending across the beach to the low water mark.

So, if you want to go swimming, here are some doggone directions:

1) Walk up Murradoc Road to the St Leonards Hotel or the corner opposite

2) If you turn left, follow The Esplanade until you see Second Avenue

3) If you turn right, follow Bluff Road until you pass Trewin Street

Once you're past either of those streets, it's playtime! Don't forget to stay on your leash and the footpath until the coast is clear!

Terms and Conditions - Coolum Cottage

1. Payment of the holiday accommodation rental fee constitutes the guest's acceptance of these Terms and Conditions.

2. The operators will make every effort to ensure the property is available as booked. However, the operators reserve the right to make alterations to bookings due to unforeseen circumstances.

3. To secure your holiday booking, a bond deposit of $200 is required to be paid within 7 days of booking with the balance paid at least two weeks prior to commencement of the booking. Payment may be made by bank deposit, cheque or money order. For Christmas, Easter, June/July and Sept/Oct school holiday bookings, the balance must be paid 30 days prior to the commencement of the booking.

4. Arrangements for key collection will be made once payment has been received in full. 

5. All premises are to be left in a satisfactory clean and tidy state (i.e. please leave the house in the same condition it was in upon your arrival). General cleaning included in guest fees comprises washing of bed linen, towels, and kitchen linen; vacuuming and mopping of floors; toilet and bathroom; dusting.

6. Guests are requested to ensure that all cutlery, crockery, cookware are washed, dried (with tea towel) and returned to appropriate drawers /cupboards; the refrigerator and pantry are clean; BBQ is clean; and outdoor tables are wiped down. It is appreciated if guests sweep and, if necessary, vacuum the floors and clean up any excess mess in the toilet and bathroom before departure.

7. In the event of excessive cleaning requirements, an extra cleaning fee of $75 will be charged and deducted from the guest bond.

8. Please ensure that children are well supervised and do not write on walls etc as this incurs additional cleaning fees (It has happened!)

9. Dogs are very welcome at Coolum Cottage in accordance with the Pooch Rules - owner to ensure cleanliness of house and yards prior to departure.

10. Linen is included. Due to health requirements all guests are required to use sheets and pillow cases.

11. Smoking is not permitted inside Coolum Cottage. Smoking is permitted outside and an ashtray is provided.

12. Any damage, breakage or loss of furniture, furnishings, equipment, locks or keys is to be reported immediately and paid for at cost, other than acceptable wear and tear. Please note that a detailed inventory check occurs both before and after your occupation.

13. A security deposit (bond) of $200.00 is required to cover all additional costs incurred as a result of any breach of these Terms and Conditions including any breakage, damage or excess cleaning requirements, which occur due to the client occupying the premises. A full refund via direct deposit to the guest's bank account or a cheque will be posted to the client vacating the property following inspection and inventory check.

14. The number of guests should not exceed the number stated on the Confirmation Notice.  Additional fees of $50.00 per person per night will apply for excess guests not notified to the operators in advance.

15.  The operators take no responsibility for the client's personal property left on the premises.

16. Check-in time is 11.00 am. Check-out time is 11.00 am. Guests must vacate the property by the check-out time unless agreed with the operators in advance that they may stay longer. Without prior agreement, additional late departure fees will apply at the nightly rate.

17. The guest making the booking must be 18 years or over and agree to take full responsibility for the temporary rental of the property.

18. Furniture, fixtures and fittings are not to be altered or moved between rooms or properties.  The BBQ must remain on the outside porch.

19. Under no circumstances should keys be left on the premises.

20. For call outs, outside of office hours, a $100.00 fee will be levied. i.e. if you lose your keys or lock yourselves out.

21. In the event of a cancellation by the client, the deposit is non-refundable, unless the property is re-let for the entire period of the cancellation. This may vary depending on circumstances of the cancellation.

We found the house was in a great location, walking distance to the beach and local shops. We were able to take our 2 Golden Retrievers whom absolutely loved the place, the backyard was huge for them to run around in and secure too. Overall pleased with the accomodation, we will be back 5/5 by , Melbourne Victoria It was lovely to have you all (two and four legged) as our guests at the Cottage and we're really pleased that everyone had a great break. It was refreshing to be able to take our dog with us to stay in someone else's house. The dog was very well catered for with treats, dog bowls,couches,blankets and dog bed. The backyard is big and enclosed and good for dogs or children. Humans are also well catered for with extra little touches which were very much appreciated. We all enjoyed the beach which was a short walk away from the accommodation and being able to take our dog to a local cafe (Cafe Ink) for breakfast with us. A great weekend had by all.5/5 by ,
