Our self-contained 2 bedroom cottage has 2 levels.

The ground floor is a combined bedroom/living room area with one queen bed and 1 sofa-bed. There’s a gas-log fire for cold winter days and an A/C for hot summer days.

The upper floor has one bedroom only. It has it’s own entrance up an outside staircase with 2 single beds, a second TV/DVD, table/chairs and a wardrobe. It’s unfortunately not suitable for children under 6 years. Please note the loft has heating and A/C but guests/children need to come down the outside stairs to the bathroom, kitchen and main living area.

The bathroom situated on the ground floor has a shower, basin, toilet, hair dryer and wardrobe.

The self-catering kitchenette on the ground floor will have light breakfast provisions for you to prepare yourself and enjoy either inside the cottage or outside on the patio. Included is a fridge, microwave, toaster, kettle, hotplate and large electric frying pan (that can be used on the balcony or inside)

Large patio outside is perfect for enjoying a glass of wine on arrival or a casual breakfast or dinner (weather permitting of course)

There is also an undercover small balcony which extends down to the large open patio.  Street parking is in a very quiet no through road. Shared laundry (small charge) is available if you’re staying longer. Included also are special touches of chocolates, fresh flowers and a small basket of fresh fruit.

Breakfast includes tea, coffee, juice, cereal, toast and fruit. There are also a number of restaurants within a 10-minute walk.

Free WIFI

A stone's throw from Puffing Billy, Belgrave village, Trees Adventure Park, Cameo Theatre, Earthly Pleasures Cafe, Grant's Picnic Ground and Micawber Tavern. Enjoy the quiet country surroundings of our little cottage nestled in a one acre garden. Feed the birds from your own private deck or enjoy outdoor dining on your patio. Relax and watch the visiting cockatoos, rosellas and kookaburras.

Tastefully decorated in a modern country style. The open plan living/bedroom area has a cozy gas log fire in Winter, polished floors, comfy wrought iron bed, A/C in Summer, dbl sofa-bed, TV/DVD with in-house movies, CD player, modern kitchenette + bathroom. Linen, fluffy robes, towels, hair dryer and toiletries included. Double French doors open out to a small deck and larger patio for outdoor dining. Light continental breakfast provisions will be set up in your room and included in the price. For 7+ night stays breakfast is provided for 1-2 mornings only. Shared laundry is available for a small charge.

Close to all attractions. 15 minutes by car to the summit of Mt Dandenong, and 50-60 minutes by car or train to Flinders St or Southern Cross Stations in Melbourne.

A short walk to Belgrave shops/restaurants, train and bus stations and some wonderful restaurants. Drive to Grant's Picnic Ground to feed the local bird life. Short drive to National Rhodedendron Gardens, William Rickets Sanctuary, Mt Dandenong Observatory and the quaint villages of Sassafras and Olinda.

Please enquire to discuss special accommodation circumstances. The 2 night minimum stay applies to Fri, Sat and Sun. 1 night stay is okay midweek. Let us know if you would like a 1 night weekend stay. Sometimes it's possible.

We can accommodate up to 4 people. So if there's a wedding or function you are going to and you would like to have your family members all together, please call to discuss your options.

We enjoyed staying at Stone's Throw Cottage B&B in Belgrave Vic. The owners were very friendly and the cottage had everything we needed especially good heating as it was quite cold there. It is close to the Puffing Billy and other attractions in the Dandenong area as well as Belgrave. 4/5 by , Caloundra Queensland Thank you so much for your review. So glad you had a great stay and it was so really lovely to meet you. [manager response]
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Cottage is very clean and well equiped with everything we needed. Cheese and biscuits and cookies on arrival and substantial breakfast provisions were provided. Private and relaxing cottage with beautiful visiting birds and very cute little dog as well!5/5 by , Cairns Robin and Margaret... Thanks so much for your lovely review. So glad you enjoyed your stay and it was so lovely to meet you. Margaret [manager response]
Margaret and Rob were welcoming warm hosts and have kept the cottage and garden in lovely clean, neat and comfortable condition. A great place to stay for a couple of nights whilst exploring all the dandenong ranges has to offer... a nature walk through the magical forest, then back to the cottage to kick up the heels with a hot cuppa, a movie, and cosy bed...only to wake up to the morning chorus of birds and breeze through the trees! and a wonderful fulfilling breakfast on the balcony!4/5 by , melbourne vic
We loved our stay. There were so many little things that we got that made our stay fantatsic, little chocolates, biscuits, fresh fruits and a great selections of DVD's to watch. Owners were super friendly. We will be back!5/5 by ,
A very pleasant stay in a beautiful cottage. Lots of privacy and quiet and it is a good location to walk to restaurants in Belgrave. Will defenitely come back. It was great to have some feed to give to the kookaburras and parrots that came to the cottage.4/5 by ,
We stay here for a night on 19 Nov 2008 (family of 2A & 2C). This is a very private and cozy cottage. The place was clean and the beds comfortable. My kids were so excited about the loft beds, the cockatoos and kookaburra that flew into the balcony. The breakfast basket provided, was simple but sufficient and healthy to our likings. And I agree with Joanne that the Owner, Margaret was very thoughtful with those little extras that we have not expected. A most helpful host providing us with location guides and eateries. The location was great....near to shops and the Belgrave Puffing Billy Station. Could not have asked for more.Thank you Margaret for making us feel at home and making this a wonderful experience for all of us.5/5 by ,
My partner and I stayed at this cottage for 4 days and we loved it. It was like a haven and a retreat. The owner could not be more accommodating of our needs and very honest and friendly. I would highly recommend this incredible place. I didn't want to leave the cottage it felt so cosy.5/5 by ,
We wanted to stay a night in the Dandenong ranges. Most of the cottages requires 2 nights min. stay. But this cottage allows 1 night stay. We had a pleasant stay. The cottage is fully equipped. I will definitely recommend this cottage.5/5 by ,
I cannot rate this property high enough!!!My Mum and Dad just stayed for three nights at this great little cottage. My family use to run a motel and I use to work as a Hotel Representative for a wholesaler so we are pretty critical when it comes to properties. If you want a fantastic quiet location walking distance to shops/station and Puffing Billy but feels like your in the middle of a forest and in a georgeous cottage with lots of privacy this is it. The cottage is ten star. All little extras have been thought of that you wouldn't expect and I can guarantee no disappointment. Great alternative to staying in the city as nice little retreat on the outskirt of town and train goes direct to city-walking distance but you wouldn't know it it's so quiet-you'll just hear birds and possums. Belgrave is a lovely area in Melbourne. I live locally and my family thoroughly enjoyed their stay. They were very comfortable. Great property for all travel types couples, families, business people great versatile property in a very serene area. Very high standard of accommodation. Enjoy your stay!!!5/5 by ,
