The Blue Grape is a slice of European hospitality in the vineyards of McLaren Vale, a fusion of food, wine, art and architecture that is simply irresistible. This is the home of Zimmermann wines and their notable shiraz is a brilliant example of the reputation the McLaren Vale region enjoys worldwide for this variety.
Nestled among the rows of vines, vigneron and architect Hans Zimmermann and his artist wife Ulrike have designed and decorated a retreat for guests’ exclusive use. Hans and Ulrike live over the other side of the vineyard, but are on-hand to serve a delightful European vineyard dinner, indulgent breakfasts and even take guests through a structured tasting of their wine.
The Blue Grape's interiors speak of comfort and romance. Bright living spaces are animated with artworks (many Ulrike's) and guests can choose from one of the two studios or the one-bedroom spa suite. From every room and the spacious entertaining deck, the vineyard views are enchanting. Another way to enjoy this retreat is to bring a group of six and treat the space as your own. Gather around the open fire with a few bottles of shiraz and some gourmet provisions picked up from the Willunga market for an unforgettable evening.
Some rooms include a seating area for your convenience. A terrace or balcony are featured in certain rooms. A flat-screen TV is featured.
There is a shared lounge at the property.
