Welcome to Adelaide Art Deco Cottage!

Adelaide Art Deco Cottage is a character 3 bedroom cottage (sleeps 5 or 6 if using portacot) and located in the inner city suburb of Glandore. It is approximately 5kms from Adelaide City or Glenelg beach and has excellent public transport links including the Adelaide to Glenelg Tram, many bus options and the Mike Turtur Bikeway

It’s one of the best locations in Adelaide for getting around, whether you are here as a tourist or are here for practical reasons e.g. access to the Flinders Medical Centre/University, the SA Aquatic Centre Oaklands Park, Ashford Hospital, Royal Adelaide Hospital or other Adelaide city based Universities.

While located in a quiet suburban street, its location near main arterial roads of Anzac Highway, Cross Roads and South Road make it an excellent choice as it is central to the city of Adelaide and nearby attractions and also direct route access to those tourist locations that are further afield, including our beautiful wine regions of McLaren Vale/ Barossa Valley/Claire Valley or a day trip to Victor Harbor, Goolwa, Pt Elliott, Kangaroo Island Ferry or Adelaide Hills (including Mt Lofty, Cleland National Park, Hahndorf, Stirling). These are all destinations that can be easily accessed via the nearby arterial roads without the hassle of complicated driving directions.

The home is located within a few minutes’ walk to the Glandore Community Centre where there is a playground and also some free play equipment that can be booked from the centre (normal office hours). There are many local conveniences nearby including a local 7 day supermarket, bottle shop, take away food, local post office and coffee shops. The recently opened Empty Bottle Café/Restaurant on Beckman Street (5 minutes’ walk) is an ideal place to have breakfast lunch or dinner and has a real vibe to it. There are many larger shopping centre within a few minutes’ drive - the closest being the Kurralta Centro (15minutes walk) from the home which includes a number of specialty shops and larger supermarket, bakery, coffee shops, optometrist and variety store to name a few. There are plentiful options of pubs and restaurants on Marion Road, Anzac Highway and Goodwood Road/King William Road and Hyde Park to name a few.

The home has a very peaceful feel to it and nature lovers will love the trees and large private and secure back garden where you can enjoy the outdoors and the outdoor setting for 6 people. Inside you can relax on the couch watching TV on the 50cm LCD TV, DVD player and enjoy free Internet ADSL-2 Wi-Fi and a music system with iPod dock. 

The cottage is a fully equipped and functioning home. The home has a recently renovated kitchen with new appliances including a dishwasher where you can cook your own meals if you prefer and we also provide a Nespresso Coffee machine and a starter pack of coffee pods for those that like their coffee fix. It has polished floorboards throughout and high ceilings. The home is a 3 bedroom one and consists of a main bedroom with queen bed, 2nd bedroom with two single beds and 3rd smaller bedroom that sleeps one person. These rooms all have overhead fans and electric blankets for the cooler nights. The bathroom while compact incorporates a shower over bath tub and vanity unity. The toilet is conveniently located separately. The laundry is inclusive of washing machine, iron and ironing table, tub and mobile drying racks (separate clothesline located outside also). 

The property has reverse cycle air conditioning in the lounge and another reverse cycle air-conditioner services the back area of the home. The lounge area is also service by a gas space heater for those who prefer that option. There is a small carport for off street parking for a small car and the driveway can accommodate a larger car. Gates can be shut for security. 

A welcome pack of coffee pods, tea, muesli, milk, biscuits and guest soaps are also provided.

No smoking (indoors), pets, parties or functions or loud noise in consideration of neighbours nearby.

Check in: around 4.00pm but can be earlier if the home is ready earlier (luggage drop and key collection can be from noon by prior arrangement) - Late night arrivals can also be accommodated. 

Check out: by 10am (luggage can be stored until noon by prior arrangement)

Please note that during peak dates we will only accept bookings of a minimum of 4 people.

When there is an enquiry for 2 people then we quote on the basis of main bedroom Queen Bed use.

Please send an enquiry for 3 people if booking for two people but need an extra bed.

Entertainment - Events - Shopping - Locality:

Major Adelaide events are nearby, within 5-30 minute by car, tram or bus ride, These include, the January 2013 Tour Down Under, the Annual Fringe Festival, Festival of Arts, Adelaide Cup, Clipsal 500, Womadelaide, Cabaret Festival in June 2013, Sala Art Festival in August 2013 ;OZAsia Festival inSep- October 2013, Guitar Festival 2013 and Cricket December 2013.

The Adelaide Festival Centre, Adelaide Zoo, Adelaide Oval, SA Art Gallery, Museum, Adelaide Convention Centre, Adelaide Casino & Adelaide Entertainment Centre can be easily accessed by the Adelaide Tram. No driving necessary and costly city parking fees.

The home has a local 7 day supermarket nearby - a larger Centro Supermarket Complex with large supermarket, Kmart, Bakery, Local Bottle shop only 10 minutes walk away. Westfield Marion and the Marion Swim Centre is only 15 minutes drive away.

Wipe up any spills promptly to avoid damage.

Lock up home when you are not at home, inclucing the side gate.

In summer we also ask that you put the sprinkler on.  Basically turning on a tap with timer.


  • Reply to owner advising quote is accepted and providing your full name, full contact address, phone number email.  Full names of all guests to be staying at the property and ages of children.  The owner will then provide you payment details to secure booking.



  • Payment is accepted via credit card through Paypal.  Add 3.4% to total for credit card/paypal payments
  • For those who have an Australian Bank account then Bank Transfer is also accepted and this will save you additional fees.
  • Security bond is returned to your Australian Bank account or Paypal account.
  • Bookings are firm only when full payment has been received by due dates
  • A deposit of 50% of the accommodation is due and will secure the rental for you – if your travel is within 45 days of arrival then full amount is due.
  • The 50% deposit is calculated on your total accommodation rate and not including the security bond or light clean and presentation charge.


·    A refundable security bond is also charged (see below for costs) and is returned  in normal circumstances and after satisfactory inspection of property within 7 working days of departure –

  • up to 13 nights- $300-$400
  • 2-6 weeks - $600
  • Over 6 weeks - $800
  • 10 weeks and over is to be negotiated
  • Arrival time is 4pm and departure time is 10am. This is negotiable if someone is not departing or arriving on same day.
  • The maximum number of people permitted to stay is as per your booking enquiry.  (Rooms not booked are locked and unavailable for use.)  If extra guests are staying we will charge you the extra per person rate per night and deduct if from the bond.
  • Complimentary use of portacot and baby highchair is available.  (Bring your own linen & pillow applies for infants using portacot)
  • No-smoking allowed indoors
  • Guests stay at our homes entirely at their own risk
  • Guests are asked to respect and protect the property and to ensure that neighbours are not disturbed by noise generally (and especially after 9.30pm)
  • In cases of excessive noise, eviction will occur and monies paid forfeited.
  • Car parking is provided for a small car under the carport and an extra spot is available in the driveway – street parking is also available.
  • In the rare instance that the Property becomes unavailable due to unforeseen circumstances (eg. fire,storm, damage, etc) then we will inform you immediately. If available then one of other properties will be offered for your consideration. If this is not suitable then the limit of our liability is that any moneys paid by you will be refunded in full.

Cancellation / Refunds

  • We do not accept cancellations or changes to dates once your deposit is made.  Monies paid are non refundable. 
  • The refundable security bond is fully refundable if you do not stay.
  • We recommend that guests take out comprehensive travel and accommodation cancellation insurance.

Safety/security issues

  • Guests should ensure they have adequate insurances to cover their personal belonging while at the property as our insurance does not cover this.
  • Security screen doors must be locked with the nib in locked position, while guests are at the property
  • Windows with security screens may be left open in fine weather.
  • Doors, security screen doors and all windows, must be locked when guests are away from the property at all times
  • Access details to the property are provided once a 50% deposit is received

Cleaning & Damage Issues

  • The homes are serviced before your stay and at the end of your stay. The home is expected to be left in a similar condition to which you found it.
  • Please do not use self tanning sprays prior or during your arrival at our home.  This is impossible to remove from our white linen and creates many hundreds of dollars or damage which we unfortunately need to recoup from your bond.
  • The oven, cooktop, crockery, cutlery, cooking utensils are expected to be cleaned if they are used. 
  • Fridge is to be cleaned on exit.
  • Internal bin is to be emptied before departure.
  • Floors are to be cleared of any litter or personal items.
  • If there is smoking indoors then a minimum charge of $250 will be incurred to steam clean carpets, mattresses, curtains etc.
  • The cost of excessive rubbish disposal will be deducted from the bond
  • All damage beyond normal wear and tear will be deducted from the bond.
  • We reserve the right to pursue a guest for recompense for any and all damages caused which may exceed the value of the security deposit and will require payment within 14 days of being served notice of this.

Other Important Matters

  • The owners/agents reserve the right of entry for security, maintenance or gardening requirements.
  • Unfortunately, pets are not permitted.
  • Wifi is provided at this property free of charge based on 25GB per week.  If overuse occurs then an additional amount of $10 per GB will be charged.
  • The cost of utilities – gas, electricity and water usage is included in the rate quoted to you.  However a fair use policy applies.
  • Smoking only allowed outdoors.  Strictly no smoking indoors. Cigarette butts to be dropped in the outdoor bin when outdoors. 
  • Property is let for residential/recreational and not for business purposes.
  • Strictly - all noise must be kept to a minimum so as not to disturb neighbours, no parties or visitors staying overnight who are not registered with owner.

Refundable Security Bond

  • The security bond is returned to you in full within one week of vacating the property subject to these terms and conditions.

Once your deposit is received we send you address and access details to the home.

Stayed for 4 nights with 2 small children. Great location for visiting Adelaide. Couple of tram stops within 2 mins walk, near to airport and easy to find. Couple of playgrounds within 200m walk as well. Shops nearby too. House is lovely and quiet - like a home from home. Well equipped, very clean and comfortable furniture and beds.
