Sandalmere Cottage

Built around the turn of the century, this very rural and private stone cottage sits amoungst Sandalwood trees and rolling fields. Beautifully restored and appointed in the clasic country style, Sandalmere is a favorite with those celebrating a special occasion or just wanting to get away and relax.

Also popular with bird watchers and bush walkers, there are 23 species of birds on the property, several very brave kangaroos and a pesky black eared rabbit.

Sandalmere property, once a summering place for the hard working block horses, the paddocks surrounding the cottage are now home to some of our own Australian Stock Horses.

There are still many relics of the horse era with some horse drawn implements still to be found where they were once left.

One guest comment: Serenity was invented at Sandalmere.

The peace and quiet was wonderful! The cottage itself was very attractive, and comfortable, and well-equipped. It was very relaxing, and we had a lovely weekend.5/5 by ,

Third time I have stayed at the cottage and it seems to get better each time. Great place for a quiet retreat5/5 by ,
We actually stayed in Amalie - beautifully furnished amd really comfortable. It suited the two families perfectly having adjoining units that interconnected. It felt like staying in someone's loved home.5/5 by ,

A great stay in a great cottage that has everything we could have asked for, privacy, peace and quiet. So relaxing in fact that our day trip plans were forgotten. The birdlife was great, the horses a touch of tranquility. We will be back, hopefully on a wet cool weekend when we can sit around the pot belly sipping some nice wine.Vida, Pam, Gavin, Don..... Beautiful cottage in the Riverland5/5 by , SA
As soon as you drive up the driveway you feel a sense of 'country' and calm. When you walk inside it is everything that one could imagine a 'country cottage' to be. The chocolates and wine were a wonderful touch - particularly considering it was winter and their was opportunity to sit in front of the fire and enjoy. This was like a home-away-from-home experience with everything available. Recommend to any fellow travellers looking for some downtime in quality accommodation. Will definately be back and will definately recommend to friends. Thanks.5/5 by , SA

We spent four nights at Sandlemere Cottage in June 2008, the Cottage was very well appointed, the wood fire already lit for our arrival, the kitchen was well stocked with breakfast cereals etc. and modern appliances, the choice of tea bags was amazing, even a bottle of wine waiting on the table for us, communication with the owners was second to none. The bird life was plentiful, we did see many different species and were able to photograph some of them. It was a very peaceful and quiet place to relax.5/5 by , SOUTH AUSTRALIA
We stayed at Sandalmere Cottage for 7 nights (4 Adults}April 08.We found plenty to keep us occupied for that time. Readng, walking, driving to nearby Morgan {the antique shop} and Waikerie{the Cobweb Craft shop Great bargains], picnicking on he river bank at Qualco, golfing etc.... Most impressed with the quality of the accomodation and the extra touches that make it special Have been hiring holiday houses for 35 years. This is one of the very best. The hosts are to be commended for their care and flair and friendliness without intrusion.Spent a lot of time watching the abundent birdlife around the cottage. Found that Cadell has lovely picnic area at the swimming area and good walking trail just needs some rain to liven up the flora.Go there you'll love it.Andrea and John5/5 by , S>A>
Peaceful, relaxing and overall excellent . The accommodation was beutifully presented, with wine and chocolate on arrival, fruit supplied, juice and an excellent breakfast for each day of stay. All the fixtures and furnishings were of top order and quality. Being only 8 mins. from Morgan with the river and recreational activities it is an ideal holiday destination.5/5 by , SOUTH AUST
Accommodation was first class and the service was excellent. The provisions left were more then adequate. Good value for money. We can recommend it to anyone who is looking for some quiet time away from the hussle and bussle of town.5/5 by , SA
