Morse Cottage

Take a trip down memory lane. Comfortable and cosy self contained accommodation with olde worlde charm.

Built c1860, Morse Cottage has a significant place on the heritage township of Burra. During the late 1800s, the present lounge room was added to the original miners cottage to serve as the telegraph office for the town, hence the name Morse Cottage. History tells us that the original pioneers, on achieving their travels through the outback to the north Australian coastline, would have signalled their success to Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney by morse code via this cottage. Come and share a blast from the past.

This was our second visit as we just needed a place to sleep and Morse Cottage is good value for money. It is very cold at this time of year however so you need to make good use of the electric blankets and log fire. Unfortunately we unknowlingly used up all of the hot water on the first morning and it hadn't heated up sufficiently for us to have a decent shower in the evening after our long walk on the Heysen Trail.3/5 by , Adelaide
We got to the cottage on a freezing night after an eighteen km walk on the Heysen Trail. Within minutes we had a roaring log fire going and spent a comfortable and cosy evening and night. We would certainly go back. Kevin4/5 by , Adelaide
