The Lodge is an award winning Queenslander pole home, set in World Heritage rainforest just one and a half kms from the beach. Guest accommodation, which is separate to the main house, is fully ensuite. We have a great swimming pool with a waterfall feature - it has just got to be the best in the area. The colourful grounds have a tropical feel to them - lots of native plants to attract scores of birds and butterflies, including the Ulysses. If you fancy a few cuttings from the garden just ask Mick (the head gardener, waiter, repair man etc..) - he will gladly oblige.

There is a large guest lounge - complete with TV, DVD, book swap library, games (Trivial Pursuit, chess, backgammon etc..).

Our Tour Desk has brochures for all the tour operators in the area. Almost all the tour operators (eg Great Barrier Reef, White Water Rafting) pick up and drop off for free at the Lodge

We have several resident cassowaries that visit the Lodge each day - so if you have not seen this magnificent and endangered bird in the wild - this is your big chance.

Mission Beach is blessed with several excellent restaurants which are all close by. If you are a bit tired of eating out then we have cooking facilities and a BBQ at your disposal.

Extreme sports are available here - white water rafting and Sky Diving - but most of all you will be knocked over by the tranquility and serenity of Mission Beach.

We serve the yummiest breakfast on offer in all Queensland (probably !!). In the evening feel free to join us on the upper veranda for a glass of wine, and together we can solve the world’s problems.

If you really insist, you can have a go on our ride-on mower - about two hours should do the trick. Laundry facilities are here, iron and ironing board (surely not on holiday ??) and of course Wireless Internet access.

It's all here at Licuala Lodge - why stay anywhere else ??

Please note that the Lodge is NOT suitable for children under the age of ten.

From Cairns
Travelling South along the Bruce Highway, it is a 2 hour drive through beautiful tropical North Queensland. Just after an hour of travelling you will arrive at the fairly large town of Innisfail. Keep on the Bruce Highway - there is a right turn to be made as you leave Innisfail (signposted Tully) in order to stay on the highway. After about 40 minutes or so, you should come across the township of El Arish, and there is a left turn for Mission Beach. Follow the road (for about 14 kms) and just before entering Mission Beach you pass a few shops on the right including a Mitre 10 Hardware store. Approx 100 metres after the shops take a right (signposted Cassowary Drive, Wongaling Beach, South Mission Beach, Tully). About one km on the right is Mission Circle - which has one of those blue B&B Accommodation signs on the corner. Simple! (If you get to the Woolworths roundabout you have gone too far).

From Townsville
A 2.5 hour drive North on the Bruce Highway, passing the spectactular Hinchinbrook Island.  Just after the town of Tully there is a right turn for Mission Beach. Stay on that road for approx 24 kms. You will pass a police station and a school on the right hand side, then a roundabout (Woolworths). Mission Circle is approx 1 km straight on after the roundabout on the left. It has one of those blue B&B Accommodation signs on the corner. Too Easy!

By Coach
There are standard coach services from Cairns to Mission Beach, and also from Townsville to Mission Beach.
There is also a regular coach shuttle service from Cairns airport to Mission Beach. When you arrive at Mission Beach, simply give us a call and we'll pick you up in a couple of minutes !!!

House rules

Please note that the Lodge is NOT suitable for children under the age of ten.

o Pets allowed.

All our Queen rooms sleep two people comfortably. An extra bed can be added to a Queen room, but it is a bit of a squeeze. But you must contact us either by email or phone to see if a third person can be accommodated in a Queen room, as we have a limited number of beds that can be added to the Queen rooms. The King Suite is a much better proposition for three people, as the bedding configuration for the King Suite is one King bed and one sofa bed.

Check In Instructions

Arrive and say Hello. Check in can be as early as 11:00 am. Just phone to see if we can oblige. Check out is normally 10:00 am. Late check out is possible.
