Hatters Cave at night

The Lodge sleeps 8 in luxury with 3 king size bedrooms, loft, 2 lounge areas, 2 bathrooms and a fully equipped kitchen. Relax by the wood fire as you gaze across wilderness.

All of this set on a magical 8 acres of diverse nature reserve with a variety of ecosystems from ridge top to rainforest. Custom designed as an environmental retreat for small groups wanting privacy while exploring and learning of the unique natural wonders that make the Blue Mountains a World Heritage Area.

Hatters Hideout has panoramic views across the World Heritage Area, Wollangambe Wilderness, Mount Wilson and Wollemi National Park, home of the prehistoric wollemi pine.

Set amidst towering escarpments, the Hat Cave is a huge sandstone cathedral, with superb acoustics. It has been sculpted by nature to provide an ideal bushland retreat for modern cave dwellers (troglodytes). It has been carefully developed using minimal impact construction and facilities to ensure the environment remains as pristine as possible for future generations to enjoy. Access is easy via a 300m walking track with numerous seats to absorb the bushland surrounds. The 25 metre high arched opening faces north west with wind and weather protection by a grove of coachwood trees and 30 metre tall carved rock columns known locally as "pagodas", a predominant feature in the primitive landscape. Facilities include:- Open fire with kindling and 20kg wood; Gas barbecue; icebox; tables and chairs; sleeping swags; Solar powered lights etc.

Activities at Hatters Hideout are tailored to individual client desires. Choose from a concert of indigenous music and stories, on-site eco tours, rocksport, have a Bush Tea Party with the Hatter or simply self-cater and relax. LIKE RENTING A PRIVATE NATIONAL PARK

A great, comfortable house with everything you need. Mark is a great host and very informative. The cave is amazing!! It’s quite a steep walk, so you need to be reasonably fit to get to it, but Mark has done a lot of work to make it accessible and usable. Great location too, with a cafe next door which has amazing views. 5/5 by , Dubbo
A truly magical stay. We had 12 people, a very easy stay. We were made welcome and had a great tour. Thoroughly recommend if you want to be among nature, with a touch of comfort, a great kitchen and a hot shower! 5/5 by , ACT
Hatters Hideout was fantastic! The property is beautiful, the lodge is well stocked and comfortable and Mark is incredibly helpful and friendly. The cave is unforgettable. We will definitely be staying here for our next visit to the mountains.5/5 by ,

We had a fabulous time at the Hatter's Hideout. Our only regret was that Mark wasn't able to stay around and share more stories of the cave and the area with us! Thanks for a wonderful place to celebrate Christmas.5/5 by ,

Our Stay was great - we had 2 visits both of which involved several children and adults. The kids had a great time as well as the adults. There is something for everyone as its close to bush walks off the property as well. The accomodation had everything we needed. It was unreal to go in and have your beds made up and a toasty warm fire burning. Great value for money if you are going with a group. THe cave was unreal as was the walk that was below the cave. THe walk back is a bit of a punish for htose of us who are not very fit though. The owner is very friendly and welcoming and he showed us the and the children around and took us to the cave and explained where everything was and some of the history of the place. We had lots of fun and would go back again in the warmer months so the kids can sleep in the cave.5/5 by , NSW
