COVE COTTAGE ON DANGAR is one of a series of beach front bungalows located on Dangar Island. This weekender is simply wrap around glass doors to the north & east, facing the beach. The lounge, living & dining is open plan, looking onto the deck. Outside there are several sun lounges, a BBQ & entertaining options on the deck.
There is ample space to set up for outdoor activities, or simply lounge back & enjoy the view. The kitchen has all the modern appliances on hand to prepare food for friends.
For those who prefer not to think about cooking, there are provisions at the Island Store. The Bowling Club on the island is a perfect spot for a refreshing drink or a supper during weekends.
The light easy living tones of the living space continue into the bedrooms. The master bedroom has built in wardrobes & direct access to the bathroom. The second bedroom is multi purpose:- converting from a king bed to two singles.
Travel is by water taxi or ferry to Dangar Island from Brooklyn. A Wheelbarrow at the jetty or the pre booked community buggy are the options for the approx. 700metre trek from the Island Wharf to Beach Cove.. Take a break on the island & enjoy the relaxed atmosphere, just 50km from the center of Sydney.
You may wish to discuss the options available to take a boat trip to one of the excellent waterfront restaurants in the area. Friday & Saturday night dinner is also available at a small club on the island, bookings essential ( 02 9985 7083).

• take a boat trip to lunch at a waterfront restaurant ..see below

•if you are staying on a weekday, join the MailBoat around 10.00am at Dangar Island & travel up the river to settlements such as Bar Point, Milsons Passage & Marlow, delivering mail along the way. Finish in Brooklyn around 1.15pm & have lunch in town before jumping in the ferry back to the island. Bookings essential. 0400 600 111..also reconfirm on the day.

Just a reminder that ‘COVE COTTAGE ON DANGAR' is boat access only. There are absolutely no roads to the property, which does make getting there part of the adventure!
From SYDNEY travel north along the Pacific Highway # 1 to Wahroonga & F3 FREEWAY, crossing the Hawkesbury River & immediately take the Brooklyn exit. Come back over the river a second time, on the PACIFIC HIGHWAY #83 & turn directly left in to Brooklyn Rd & drive approx. 4 km to the pub & turn left, following signs to Ferry Wharf, for your water taxi /ferry. Allow an hour & a half by car from Sydney, and in peak periods add 30 minutes.
Water Taxi phone 0422 300 100, POA advance bookings essential, pick up at BROOKLYN public wharf. Unload belongings at the wharf, and then park your car. Parking in Brooklyn can be a challenge during weekend & holidays, but you will always find a spot up near the pub
Ferry departs from 'Ferry Wharf' in Brooklyn ( next left after Kangaroo Point ) Travel approx, 5km along Brooklyn Rd, turning left at the pub, & drive towards the River Boat Poastman office. Here there is a small single lane road to the left, next to the train line. Just 100m along that road is the Dangar Island Ferry Wharf. Unload your belongings & then park your car.There are no parking fees in the parking areas nearby. Note that last ferry is at 8.00pm Mon-Fri & 6.00pm weekends & Public Holidays. No bookings required. approx $7 pp each way.

Dangar Island Bowling Club is open for Friday dinner, Saturday lunch & dinner, as well as Sunday lunch. This is a real watering hole for the residents ; a place to slip back into island tempo after a week in the city. There are usually a couple of choices for each course & the food is freshly prepared by the talented local team. Located next to the bowling green & playground in the centre of the island, this is a must visit, if only for a cool drink on the terrace at dusk. Bookings essential 02 9985 7083

A great place for a long relaxed lunch, in one of the most beautiful & unique locations on the river. $135.00pp ( licensed ) You will need to advance book in your boat transfers with the restaurant at the time of booking your table.
