Escape is our much loved family beach house and is family run with the greatest care .We love it when guests love Escape as much as we do !

Our story; We came to Culburra for a cup of coffee with friends in April 2010 and we bought a house! It was run down, multi-coloured and needed a huge amount of work but the location was definitely one of the best on the east coast of Australia. Over the next 6 months we did our own "Grand Design" project and Escape was created! Follow our journey in the photo books at the house.

Perfect for all ages; flat house with rails in the bathroom and toilet. Watch the family on the beach from the deck. Great for families, couples, girls weekends or a group of singles - sleeps 8 (7 beds). Perfect for that multi-generational family get together, including the dog!

Luxury, designer home. Expansive open kitchen, living and dining area (seats 8) opening onto huge deck and large lawn area overlooking view. There is a great play area for both big and little kids! Lovely coastal garden plus our very own herb garden. Open fire warms the whole house and creates a great atmosphere. Escape is just as popular in winter as it is in summer! The combination of the winter sun filling the house by day and the roaring fire at night makes winter our favourite time of the year @Escape

Linen and towels are provided for all bedrooms and made up for guests arrival..
Cleaning is included in the rates.

Prime position (north facing) at the south end of Culburra Beach near Tilbury Cove which is perfect for little children.
Pet Friendly. Culburra is a dog friendly, leash free beach, puppy paradise! Fully fenced front yard and secure courtyard at the side of the house. We even have dog tags to lend you while your dog is staying @Escape

Whale watching from the deck during May to August, October to December.
Dolphins in the bay all year.

Free wifi.

Escape is not available for weddings, pre wedding functions, schoolies, bucks parties or parties of any description.

The House

All on one level, luxury beach house. All new furniture and everything works! An abundance of everything, gourmet kitchen, Nespresso coffee machine and Weber BBQ. Enough crockery and cutlery for the biggest family!

Three Bedrooms:

  •  Main: Queen Bed - huge room with private sitting area with spectacular views
  •  Second: Queen Bed - light filled
  •  Third: Double bed plus 2x2 bunks (ie four single beds)

Two new bathrooms plus outdoor shower in the garden.

Large open plan living/kitchen area opens onto deck with BBQ area, lounge, chairs, large outdoor table. Wonderful indoor/outdoor flow.

  • Culburra is nestled amongst some of the Shoalhavens most beautiful countryside.
  • Nearbye lake and Shoalhaven River for boating -2 boat ramps.
  • Great fishing; beach and river, catch fish in front of the house.
  • Lovely beach and bush walks nearby; Jervis Bay, National Parks, Kangaroo Valley, Berry, Milton, Abrahams Bosom. Book on local walks available at Escape which also gives information about dog friendly local walks.
  • Great local fish and the best oysters in Australia from nearbye Greenwell Point.

  • Great for bike riding. Culburra is very flat and quiet, easy to ride to the headland at the end of the street, down to the lake, river, lighthouse and shops.
  • Children's playground with picnic facilities 5 mins up the road or accessed from beach via Tilbury Cove.
  • Surf school just up the road; arrange surf lessons, hire boards, wetsuits, kayaks, paddle boards.
  • Jervis Bay is 15 min drive away.
  • Lake Woollumboola nearby is famous for its birdlife.

We are puppy foster carers for Guide Dogs NSW. Puppies spend their first 12 months with us prior to starting their "official " Guide Dog training. They absolutely love their holidays at Escape and we have lots of photos at the house or on our Facebook page.

Escape is not available for weddings, pre wedding celebrations, schoolie groups or parties of any kind. For your added security, this property Escape@Culburra is only managed in Australia and we never request payments be made to overeas bank accounts.

~House Rules are provided at the Property to ensure that Guests and
Visitors know and comply with the specific Rules governing their
permission to enter and occupy the Property.
4.1 General requirements
a) Guest and Visitors must comply with all House Rules, By-Laws and instructions from the Manager and security
services during their stay; and
b) Guests must notify the Manager of any disputes or complaints from neighbours as soon as is practicable.
4.2 Noise and Residential amenity
a) Guests and Visitors must not create noise which is offensive to occupiers of neighbouring properties especially
between 10pm - 8am and during arrival and departure at any time throughout the occupancy;
b) Offensive noise is prohibited and may result in termination of permission to occupy the Property, eviction, loss of
rental paid and extra charges for security and other expenses which may be deducted from Security Deposit or
Bond under the Terms and Conditions; and
c) Guests and Visitors must not engage in anti-social behaviour and must minimise their impact upon the
residential amenity of neighbours and local community.
4.3 Visitors
a) Guests are responsible for ensuring the limits set on Visitor numbers is complied with at all times; and
b) Guests are responsible for ensuring that Visitors comply with these House Rules.
4.4 Gatherings or functions
a) The Property is not a “party house” and any such activities are strictly prohibited; and
b) Any gathering, celebration or entertainment permitted at a Property must not conflict with residential amenity and
must comply with all the other requirements.
4.5 Parking
a) Guests and Visitors are to comply with parking regulations and other requirements set out below and show
consideration to neighbours and other vehicles; and
b) Parking arrangements at the Property are as follows: [Manager insert here]
4.6 Garbage and recycling
a) Guests and Visitors are to dispose of garbage and recycling in accordance with the usual practice at the
Property (as set out below) in the allocated bins, and excess rubbish must not be left in public or common areas;

4.7 Security
Whenever you are absent from the Property, close all windows and doors to maintain security and prevent rain and
water damage.
4.8 Swimming pool/spa (if applicable)
a) The swimming pool/spa must not be used between the hours of 10.00pm and 7.00am.
b) No glassware is permitted in the pool.
4.9 Deck and balcony areas

4.16 Compliance
a) Breach of these House Rules is a breach of the Terms and Conditions of occupancy.
b) The Owner and Manager reserve the right to terminate permission to occupy and to evict from the Property,
Guests or Visitors who refuse to follow these House Rules or who cause a nuisance.

Standard Terms and Conditions of Temporary Holiday Accommodation

Note: Variances can be agreed on but only by arrangement with the owner in writing.

Deposit of 50% non refundable is required to secure the booking. Payment of the rental deposit constitutes the clients acceptance of these Terms and Conditions.

Balance of the rental amount must be received in full 21 days prior to occupancy. If not the owner has the right to cancel the booking and attempt to re let it.

Cancellation if caused by the client, money paid is not refundable unless the house is re-let for the entire period. If it a refund is made due to the property being re-let then a $50 cancellation fee will apply.

The owners will make every effort to ensure the property is available as booked. However the owners reserve the right to make alterations to bookings due to unforeseen circumstances.
Breach of the House Rules (available at the house)is a breach of the Terms and Conditions .
The client takes responsibilty for all guests in his party plus any visitors to the property during your stay.

To maintain a good standard for our guests we require certain conditions to be complied with. We appreciate most will respect our property but the occasional abuse requires that we state the following conditions.

Number of Guests should not exceed the number stated on the Confirmation Notice or subsequently agreed in writing or email.  Fees will apply for excess guests not agreed with the owners in advance.

Parties and Functions are strictly prohibited. The price charged is for domestic use only and not commercial. Accordingly this rate does not allow for the extra wear associated with functions in terms of cleaning, garbage removal, wear and tear, repairs etc. Use contrary to this may result in loss of your bond and/or additional payments.

Damage, Breakages, Theft and Loss are the tenants responsibility during their stay.

Departure - the property should be left in a similar state to its condition on arrival. Check-out time is 10am by the latest, to allow time to prepare property for next guests.

Disturbance to our neighbours, including excessive noise, is prohibited and may result in termination of rental and loss of bond.

Bond is payable at the same time as the balance amount. The bond will be refunded within 14 days in full subject to the above conditions being met. It is designed to cover any additional costs incurred including but not limited to, any breakage, damage or excess cleaning requirements, extra guests beyond those declared ..etc. 


Pets are allowed only by prior negotiation with owners.
Loss - the owners take no responsibility for the tenant's personal property.

Variations to these conditions may only be made by prior arrangements with the owner in writing.

Direction From Sydney
From the North Shore Travel on the M2 –M7  (as if you are travelling to Canberra .After about 1 hr you will see the Picton Rd exit on your left .
Take Picton exit Until it connects with the Princess  Highway which bypasses Wollongong Continue through Gerringong ,Berry etc to Nowra .
If you are coming from Sydney the turn off to Culburra is about 1km on the left past the bridge at Nowra (2 nd on the left) this is Moss St and the sign says to Terara and Numbaa .There is a big shop called Nowra Fresh on the corner .
To Culburra continue on and the road does a series of s curves and eventually a big turn to the right which is clearly signposted to Culburra Beach.
From here the road is clearly signposted .It takes about 20 minutes from the highway turnoff and is a very scenic drive through all the dairy farms
There is only one road into Culburra beach. Stay on it and Escape@ Culburra 182 Penguin Head Rd  is about 1.5 kms past the shops on your left.
