Farm Stay Exterior

A quiet country road leads you to this place of interest and tranquillity.

Forest Glen comprises 65 hectares (160 acres), about a third of which is natural, native bushland, another third being wide open spaces, and the final third being an organic tea tree plantation.

The homestead and Farm Stay are surrounded by well kept lawns and gardens, inviting birds and wildlife to share the space. Waking up to the grazing 'roos, moor-hens and ducks outside the door is a daily event.

Our mission is to provide an ecologically friendly environment in which you can come and look, learn, dine and relax in one place.

The Farm Stay accommodation comprises a four bedroom original cottage. This can be occupied by as few people as just a couple or as many as eight people in three queens and a double. This is supplemented by a basic-style bunk room with 10 bunk beds and a sofa bed. At a pinch, we can sleep another four in a separate building. The Farm Stay comes complete with fully self-contained kitchen, dining/lounge room, bathroom, TV and a wood combustion stove for winter heating.

Attached to the bunk room is a games room with pool table, table tennis and table games complete the picture inside.

For such large numbers, additional multiple, segregated bathroom/toilet amenities are just a few steps away. These facilities include wheelchair access showers and toilets for disabled folk who are able to bear weight. Imagine bringing your aged parents for a couple of days to the country, knowing they will be cared for as well as they are at home.

Forest Glen Organic Farm also boasts a 60-seat reception centre that is designed to cater for day tour groups (morning teas, lunches, etc.), parties, weddings, seminars and small conferences. Amanda's many years of catering experience, including seven years on the road feeding film crews and stars alike, are put to good use, and meal packages are available by arrangement. The Farm Stay provides an option for staying on site after the function.

Forest Glen Organic Farm is an A1 certified organic tea tree plantation, where we grow the trees and process the oil on site. At different times of the year, you may be able to see the harvester and distillation plant at work. We are also growing fruit and vegetables organically. If you would like to know more about organic mechanics, it's all here for the learning.

The great draw card for our Farm Stay is its positioning for large families or groups of friends to come together in an absolutely relaxed atmosphere, with minimal rules and no effective curfew, so that you can just focus on the natural tranquillity and enjoy the company of your companions.

Forest Glen Organic Farm is nature:

Forest Glen Organic Farm is a haven for birds and other wildlife, with over 100 species of birds recorded on the property over time (over 40 species evident on any given day), and with numerous kangaroos, wallabies, free-roaming horses and other wildlife resident on the property. It is not unusual to spot an echidna, a goanna, or a python. Just for the looking.

Forest Glen Organic Farm has wide open spaces for camping, romping, playing, ball games, strolling, jogging, cycling and so on. We adjoin Bungawalbyn Creek, where kayaking and fishing can be enjoyed. Get the exercise you need, or just relax over a drink.

At night time, the only lights you see are generated on site or in the sky above. On cloudless and moonless nights, it is just as likely that the homestead lights will go out and the telescope will emerge. At these times, weather and season permitting, it is also likely that we will offer our hugely popular campfire under the stars.

  1.  En route, drive safely.

  2. When you arrive, we will be on hand to meet you and settle you into the accommodation.

  3. Once here, have fun and enjoy your stay.

  4. On arrival, please park your vehicle(s) adjacent to the farm stay building and stop BEFORE the footpath (which you will see on arrival). The concrete is not quite industrial strength, so you may cause it to crack if you drive over it. If there has been rain ahead of your arrival, it is better to "hug" the Farm Stay building.

  5. No smoking inside the buildings.

  6. Where guest requirements exceed the capacity of the Farm Stay's fridge/freezer, guests may utilise the additional freezer that is in the laundry. Where substantial amounts of beverages must be kept cool, it is recoommended that guests bring Eskies (or similar), and guests are responsible for supplying their own ice.

  7. Forest Glen Organic Farm exists outside of town water services and it therefore depends on captured rainwater. This necessitates guests being careful with the use of fresh water, particularly with respect to showers.

  8. Forest Glen Organic Farm exists outside of town sewerage services and it therefore depends on an on-site septic system. This necessitates guests ensuring that no foreign materials are to be flushed down the toilet with the exception of commercial toilet paper.

  9. Forest Glen Organic Farm exists outside of town waste management services and it therefore depends on effective on-site waste management. This necessitates guests (a) placing recyclable materials into the receptacles in the Farm Stay laundry, sorted as per signage, (b) feeding food scraps, except any meat bones, to the chickens (a food scrap bucket is supplied on the kitchen bench), (c) wrapping bones in plastic and storing them in the freezer for later disposal (they are NOT to be fed to the farm's dogs), and (d) any other garbage is to be stored in the small rubbish bin supplied in the kitchen, from where it should be transferred when full to the wheelie bin situated outside the Farm Stay laundry. Any putriscible garbage that cannot be fed to the chickens (e.g. soiled nappies or napkins) must be wrapped in plastic prior to placement in the wheelie bin.

  10. Feed your food scraps to the chickens by emptying the supplied bin in the chicken run. (Let the kids do this, if possible.) Check for eggs in the hen house and please feel free to use any eggs you find. Rinse the bin before returning it to the bench.

  11. There is an amenities block with multiple men’s and women’s showers and toilets at the other end of the footpath. This is attached to a larger water supply and to a larger septic system. Where guest numbers exceed the reasonable capacity of the internal bathrooms, guests are required to use these facilities. This assists in preventing  if you wish to avoid delays in the farm stay, and we just ask you to keep it tidy.

  12. If guests need to use the laundry, it is located on the far side of the amenities block. The "Quick 30" or "Quick 60" cycles are usually effective on the washing machine. It is a front loader, and therefore does not require a large amount of detergent. Please avoid using the machine for very small loads.

  13. There is a rotary hoist near to the Farm Stay for hanging washing/wet towels. Guests are requested to use the hoist when the weather favours drying outside.

  14. Use the swimming pool any time in daylight hours. Do not take glass into the swimming pool area. If the swimming pool vacuum cleaner is in the water, please move the hose carefully to the side or out of the water to avoid damaging any of the hose parts. Ensure the pool pump is turned off (the switch is behind the pump) before removing the hose from the water.

  15. While you are here, you have exclusive use of the Farm Stay and you can roam pretty much anywhere on the property - we just ask that nobody climbs on our farm equipment.

  16. Close gates behind you if you open them. We have six horses roaming freely in the fenced paddocks.

  17. We remind you that it is your responsibility to watch over your children, especially with regard to the swimming pool, the billabongs and the farming equipment. We also remind you that this is rural Australia, so you will need to be watchful for snakes (although, to be honest, we rarely see any). Please do not forget the summer sun and the possibility of night time mosquitos (not usually a problem).

  18. We have two people-friendly farm dogs. You might warn your kids to expect a kiss from them when you arrive. It is imperative that the dogs do not go near the public road: if you want to go for a walk or run along the road, the dogs may try to follow, in which case please tell them to "go home". We ask you to not throw sticks to them; there is usually a ball around somewhere.

  19. If you have brought pet dogs, it is essential that they not be allowed to chase the kangaroos, as they could undo years of work in fostering the kangaroos trust in us and our dogs.

  20. If any issue crops up while you are here, please do not hesitate to call for one of us to resolve the problem or answer your questions. House phone is 02-6683 2832, Amanda is 0411 708 868 and Trevor is 0411 888 852.

  21. When preparing to leave, please strip off all sheets (top and bottom) and pillow slips from used beds, and place into a white laundry bin in the Farm Stay laundry, and place all used towels into the other white laundry bin, as per signage. Do not strip the duvet (doona) covers off the doonas.

If you think of anything that you would like to know ahead of your arrival, please do not hesitate to call or email.

  1.  Guest check-in time is after 2:00 p.m. on the scheduled day of arrival.

  2. Guest check-out time is by 10:00 a.m. on the scheduled day of departure. However, at the proprietors' discretion in cases where there is no other booking on that day, departure time may be extended at no extra cost should the guest specifically request an extension. Extensions may be denied where cleaning has been scheduled for that day.

  3. Guests' bookings are not confirmed until payment of deposit (or, at the guest's discretion, full tariff amount) is received by the proprietors.

  4. Where the guest chooses to pay the full tariff amount at the time of booking, a 5% discount is applicable, except where the booking date is within one week of the occupation date.

  5. Outstanding balance is payable at time of check-in.

  6. Payments may be made either directly into the account whose details are provided by the proprietors OR by credit/debit card facility either over the phone (for deposits) or on site via EFTPOS (for outstanding balances).

  7. Deposits are non-refundable but, in the case of cancellation after payment of the deposit, the deposit may be fully applied to an alternative booking.

  8. Where cancellation leaves no reasonable opportunity for the Farm Stay to be rebooked (specifically, where the cancellation occurs in the 72 hour period prior to scheduled occupancy), the proprietors reserve the right to charge the client a cancellation fee amounting to 2 days minimum rental ($200) minus any deposit paid up to the amount of $200, except where cancellation occurs on the day of scheduled occupancy, in which case the the proprietors reserve the right to charge the client a cancellation fee amounting to the quoted daily rental amount for 2 days minus any deposit paid up to the amount of $200.

  9. Forest Glen Organic Farm's Farm Stay is made available on the condition that the property at large, its occupants, its animals and its assets will be treated with respect by the guests, and guests will accept responsibility for avoidable damages caused by them or their dependants.

  10. It is a condition of driving on our property that:
    - you remain on the driveway when entering or leaving, and do not drive on the grass areas on either side
    - you maintain a maximum speed of 15 kph in case of people, animals, equipment
    - you do NOT drive over any concrete paths
    - you do NOT drive on the far side of the farm stay building.

  1.  Please let us know if you need more detailed directions to find your way here. In a nutshell, from Sydney, drive north on the Pacific Highway to Woodburn, then take the left turn onto the Casino-Coraki Road on the western side of the highway as you enter Woodburn, or from Brisbane, drive south on the Pacific Highway to Woodburn, then take the right turn onto the Casino-Coraki Road on the western side of the highway after you pass the service station. Drive for 11 km, then turn left into Bungawalbin-Whiporie Rd (it is immediately before a bridge over Bungawalbyn Creek). Travel for 16.3 km to our farm. If you have a GPS system based on Google, just type in Forest Glen Organic Farm as your destination. It may take you a slightly shorter way via Reardon's Lane, which is okay except it is a partially gravel road but it is in good condition.

  2. All essentials (bedlinen, towels, crockery, etc.) are provided, but guests are responsible for their own food and beverage requirements.

  3. The only phone and internet signals that reach our property are Telstra 3G (NextG), so if telephone/internet is important to you, you will need to have Telstra coverage. We have a landline in the adjacent room marked “Office” that you may use for anything urgent

  4. Please let us know in advance if you would like for us to organise a bonfire under the stars (weather and fire-ban dependent).

  5. In some circumstances, we are able to provide catering services (for a birthday celebration, for example). We have a 50-60 seater function room that can be applied to such events. Our rates are very reasonable. Please contact us in advance if this may interest you.
