Simpson Cottage is a heritage listed 3 bedroom, sandstone cottage built in the 1870s, it was the original home of the Simpson family; one of the first settlers south of the Hacking River, a beachfront sandstone cottage set on a large parcel of private gardens with expansive water views across to Maianbar and beyond.

Tranquil and private and tucked away within the National Park surrounding the peaceful seaside town of Bundeena, the cottage provides perfect accommodation for couples, two families, a group of friends or mid week away days for small businesses.

Throughout the cottage many original features have been retained including wrought iron, original fireplace, high timber lined ceilings, front door with the original lock and French doors

Bedroom 1 has a queen size bed with water views. 
Bedroom 2 offers the versatility of a king bed or 2 singles

Completely renovated the kitchen features polished concrete bench-tops, large electric oven and gas cook-top, plenty of fridge space, dishwasher, microwave, coffee machine (Nesspresso pod style) and to compliment the out-door life style a large six burner BBQ is located under cover close to the kitchen.

The spacious bathroom has under floor heating, luxury freestanding bath, large frame-less rain shower.

Both the kitchen and bathroom have polished concrete floor with under floor heating to ensure you stay warm in the winter.

THE LIVING ROOM has the original working fire place, TV and sofas.

DINING is located in the gazebo just off the veranda to take in the views and comfortably seats 8, ideal for cooler evenings or in the rain, there is also a large picnic table with magical views in the garden. 

The cottage sits in a parkland setting of 1500m/2 and private access to the beach and national park via a 100m bush track.

From the wide verandas you can take in the views over Simpson's Bay to Mainbar and beyond, spot playful dolphins, watch the beautiful sunsets and once the sun has set the gazebo/dining area is the perfect place to lose yourself with friends and family as you watch the twinkling lights reflecting on the water over dinner.


Coffee and tea, linen, towels, orgainc soaps and eco friendly cleaning products and the essentials like tomato sauce, salt and pepper, cooking oil.

Kitchen linen is all hand made by the owner using rustic traditional style linen imported directly from small mills in Europe.
Much of the bedding is also hand made by the owner. We use pure linen made from the finest flax grown and processed in Europe.
Organic cotton towels are hand woven in Turkey by the last remaining artisans.
All cleaning products provided are made in Australia and environmentally safe.
All soaps provided are organic and made for Simpson Cottage in Melbourne using old world recipes and methods.

Simpson Cottage is the ideal get away.

The front veranda is ideal for soaking up the sun while admiring the view and the cozy gazebo is the ideal space when it's too cold to be outside but you want to make the most of the views.

The open fire is original and ideal for curling up in cozy comfort, relax in style and be transported back in time.

Cool breezes, wide verandas and private access to the beach ensure you can stay cool. 

Below the cottage via the track are public picnic grounds perfect for a game of family cricket and ideal for the kids to play and amuse them selves safely

is set up as an extra space/retreat and is equipped with a full bathroom (no bath) and comfy sofas. It’s in here that much of the linen you will use is made.

to start your escape you'll find tea, coffee (including coffee machine pods), milk, sugar and something sweet.

for all beds is provided, much of it is handmade on site from the finest European grown flax, towels are handwoven in Turkey by the last remaining artisans.

all our products provided are eco friendly, made in the traditional way using old world methods and recipes, where possible they're made in Australia they can be purchased during your stay or online through the Simpson Cottage website.

No national park fees are incurred unless you park within the Royal National Park. Bundeena is NOT considered to be part of the park so parking is regulated by Sutherland Shire Council.

There are nearby cafes and restaurants where you can get breakfast, lunch and dinner as well a bottle shop and supermarket.

There is the option to self cater and utilise the new fully equipped kitchen and BBQ.

For those who don't want to leave and simply escape there are plenty of options where you can enjoy the view and peace and quiet.

ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE times are 3pm and 10am respectivley. We're flexible and offer extended times for a fee when available.

Simpson Cottage is a no smoking house, smoking out side is tolerated. Please dont leave cigarette butts in the garden or on the grass, failure to remove and dispose of them may resul in full or partial forfetiyre of your bond.

Bundeen is a residential eighbourhood please respect the neighbous by parking consideratly and keeping the noise down.




Deposit: A refundable bond/deposit is payable to confirm and secure the booking and is refunded in certain circumstances only. The bond/deposit may be up to $1500.00 (depending on length of stay) and is due at the time of booking, until the bond is received the booking not confirmed or secure.

Payment of the rental bond/deposit constitutes the client's acceptance of these Terms and Conditions.

Accommodation fees: Accommodation fee is broken in to two portions; Cleaning from $200.00 paid upon departure. The Balance of the rental amount must be received in full 14 days prior to occupancy. If not the owner has the right to cancel the booking and attempt to re let it. Failure to pay in that that time will result in forfeiture of bond unless agreed with by the owner.

Cancellations: if your booking is cancelled more than two weeks prior to your stay and the cottage is re-let no cancellation fee will be charged.

If the cottage is not re-booked the bond paid at time of confirmation will not be refunded.

Cancellations less than two weeks prior to stay will incur a cancellation fee of 10% of your accommodation fee if the cottage is re-booked.

If the cottage is not re-booked the bond/deposit will not be refunded and the accommodation fee will be refunded less 10% at the discretion of the owner.

Photo ID: Unfortunately due to previous fraud and malicious damage a copy of your photo ID is required. Current driver’s license, passport or similar ID is accepted either a scanned copy email or photo via text is accepted.

No ID or bank details are retained after departure and bond refund has occurred.

Goodwill: The owners will make every effort to ensure the property is available as booked. However the owners reserve the right to make alterations to bookings due to unforeseen circumstances.

To maintain a good standard for our guests we require certain conditions to be complied with. We appreciate most will respect our property but the occasional abuse requires that we state the following conditions.

Parties and Functions are strictly prohibited. The price charged is for domestic use only and not commercial. Accordingly this rate does not allow for the extra wear associated with functions in terms of cleaning, garbage removal, wear and tear, repairs etc. Use contrary to this may result in loss of your bond and/or additional payments.

All damage, breakages, theft and loss are the tenant’s responsibility during their stay and should any of the above occur full or partial forfeiture of bond may result.

Arrival and departure: Arrival time is 3pm; Departure time is 10am; to allow time to prepare property for next guests. Earlier arrival and later departure may be available upon request.

Departure - the property should be left in a similar state to its condition on arrival.

Disturbance to our neighbours, including excessive noise, is prohibited and may result in termination of rental and loss of bond.

Linen including towels for 8 is supplied.

Variations to these conditions may only be made by prior arrangements with the owner in writing
