REVIEWS TELL YOU EVERYTHING ...........

....... so read what the Sydney Morning Herald's journalist for Saturday's 'TRAVELLER' magazine Bruce Elder said when he stayed with his family at 'A Miner's Rest' (unbeknown to us.)

He wrote... 'the cottage was 'A Miner Miracle'. 'The experience of staying in this authentic miner's cottage was delightful'.

AND................

'The perfect base from which to explore at a fair price.
A Miner's Rest will delight! ' (see the full text in the cottage.)

Bruce and family stayed incognito and then the next thIng we knew we had a write-up in the 'Traveller' section of the Sydney Morning Saturday Herald - for which we thank him.

Just browsing the Stayz website and saw the pics of A Miner's Rest. Cannot believe it is nearly a year since we stayed here and I haven't written a review. Very remiss of me as this was the most wonderful place to base ourselves (family of four) for a week exploring Broken Hill and surrounds. Everything was taken care of and we even found dinner supplies in the fridge the night we arrived late on the train. So thoughtful! Would love to return one day to Broken Hill and a Miner's Rest! Thank you!5/5 by ,
WHAT WONDERFUL ACCOMMODATION!When arrived the first time, we opened the door to find a beautifully restored little gem. This was what we'd hoped for. This was what we imagined we had booked. This is what we got. Great joy all round! Kids happy. When we came back to Broken Hill for Nana’s 90th, there was no question as to where we would stay. It was our home in ‘The Hill’ - the house of good memories of our last visit. This cottage has been restored with total attention to detail and everything you could possibly need (with lots of little extras) is provided by the owners. It's spotless (I'm v fussy), comfortable and relaxing. Lovely beds and a nice outdoor area.If you want a genuine outback experience, we recommend you try 'A Miner's Rest'. You won’t regret it!5/5 by ,

Our third stay at this delighful cottage. Love the atmosphere it provides of days gone by. Couldn't want for anything as all amenities are top class and as for the beds, they are so comfy and cosy! Close enough to town centre but far enough away to enjoy the peace and serenity A Miner's Rest provides on each of our visits. No doubt we'll be back again some day for yet another stay!5/5 by ,
Wonderful place to stay. It felt calm and relaxing and had everything that we could possibly need. Hope to go back one day5/5 by ,
The Miners Rest was indeed a beautiful experience. It and Broken Hill were the highlight of our road trip. Your thoughtfulness in meeting your guests every need was just incredible and it was just like going back in time to my family home in Eastwood. It seemed every few minutes I would say to my hubby that this or that was exactly the same - the fire place in the lounge room, the door handles, architraves, skirting boards, light fixture, and the furniture in the kitchen and even the laundry tub! Too many things to mention them all. After an exhausting day of sight seeing we would relax out the back in the shade and sit and reflect at how amazing it all was. As this trip was one of my "bucket list" experiences I'm truly grateful that your Miners Rest cottage was ALL and more that we had hoped for. I probably won't get to do everything on my list but it doesn't matter as this BH experience was sooo good.5/5 by ,
Our second visit to this comfy cottage in Broken Hill, this time for 5 nights and we highly recommend it to anyone who wants a hassle free stay in a cottage where all needs are catered for. Karyl and Linda, we'll return again sometime in the future for our third stay at A Miner's Rest!5/5 by ,
Amazing place to stay and was wonderfully clean and decorated! It felt like a home away from home.We will definitely stay here again and love that it's pet friendly!!5/5 by ,
B & B was extremely tidy and well presented. Lots of history adds to its charm. The bottle of champagne was a nice touch (Anniversary). Good follow up after our visit was also appreciated.Recommend to all nomads for a relaxing, friendly stay.5/5 by ,
Just a note to say thank you for a wonderful stay in the Miner's Cottage this last week. The cottage is just beautiful and has been decorated and supplied so nicely. It was lovely to come back each night to the warmth and welcome of the place. Thank you again for your hospitality5/5 by ,
The cottage was wonderful. Romantic main bedroom...great for anniversaries etc. I was amazed there was actually food in the fridge for us to use even though we had our own. Very considerate and thoughtful. The kitchen was quirky with the uneven floor but that wasn't a problem. The property is dog friendly and our golden retriever Sally loved the air conditioning. I love the old world charm of this 120+ year old cottage I enjoyed reading the history about the ownership also. I would stay again. 100%5/5 by ,
Loved the old world charm and decor.very cosy and nice to sit outside on back verandah area.Very close to all the sights , but off the main tourist areas . Very good value over the 5 nights .Will happily recommend .The close proximity to the Sixties milk bar was a great highlight .5/5 by ,

A Miner's Rest is truly outstanding and whilst my partner and I have stayed at some great places throughout our outback adventure, this beautiful country cottage was by far our favourite accomodation and wish we could've towed this cottage behind us to every destination on our trip! The owners have obviously gone out of their way to make this cottage an experience to remember with such uniquely pretty decor and so many other little things they thoughfully provide for you. Forget motel rooms and try this place. Thank you for having us, we just loved it!5/5 by , NSW
A Miner's Rest was one of the best experiences we have had. It was like 'coming home'. To walk in to such a homely and well-presented place, after a long journey, was such a pleasure. Every convenience was available and we just had the most amazing time. The house is representative of the whole of Broken Hill. I would recommend A Miner's Rest to anyone who appreciates value for money and a quaint old-world experience. It was certainly more exciting then a hotel and far more economical.5/5 by , NSW
We felt right at home as soon as we walked through the front door. A great pace to take a break, quiet and peaceful. As an added bonus all the little things were thought of, condiments in the fridge, washing powder for the machine etc. It was staying at my grandmothers house - we loved it.5/5 by , NSW
The charming, pleasant, cosiness of A Miner’s Rest made my stay in Broken Hill an absolute delight.5/5 by , SOUTH AUSTRALIA
An absolutely beautiful heritage house!! Very good value for money. Everything you need is there, and it is close to all the attractions you want to see. We had a great time and we just loved the comfort provided by the owner, and the spa. We would stay there again!5/5 by ,
A delightful stay at the Miner's Rest. Although the weather wasn't kind to us we did enjoy our stay. The accomodation was excellent.5/5 by , VICTORIA
We enjoyed the cottage very much. The attention to detail was great. The cottage was comfortable and had supplies of tea, coffee, milk, everything you need, all washing and cleaning supplies and just about everything else. It helped start our stay off easily with no need to rush off to shop, except for essential foodstuffs. The lady owner picked us up at the railway station the night we arrived, what else could you ask for. It was very reasonably priced too and had an atmosphere of its own. P.S Loved Broken Hill- it's beautiful, and the townsfolk were really nice. Would be a great place to live. Be back someday.5/5 by , NSW
When we stepped through the front door we instantly knew we were in for a good time, the cottage was wonderful, every thing we needed was already there and it was spotlessly clean and great value for money. We have no hesistation in recommending it to anyone.5/5 by , VIC
We enjoyed our stay immensely, the cottage was clean & tidy and well equipped. This is certainly great value for money.5/5 by , S.A.
