One Mile Retreat is a secluded beach house set on the peak of One Mile Ridge. The property overlooks and has direct access to One Mile Beach, one of the most spectacular patrolled surf beaches on the coast of New South Wales. From the deck are uninterrupted 180 degree views of the Pacific Ocean sweeping around to Tomaree National Park. If you do not make it to the beach, enjoy the breathtaking views from the heated Infinity pool and spa.

The property, renowned for its architecture, features spacious open-plan living, marble kitchen, Smeg appliances, polished timber floors, and an expansive deck with state-of-the art BBQ. It is exquisitely appointed with fine linen and quality entertainment systems.

Boat Harbour is just 10 minutes by car from Nelson Bay, 20 mins from Williamtown International Airport and 40 mins from Newcastle GPO. Anna Bay is only 3 kms away for most of your daily supplies.

Boat Harbour is a quiet harbour beach protected by a headland perfect for swimming snorkelling and scuba diving. It is also a favourite fishing spot.

One Mile Beach is one the area's best known surfing beaches. It is also famous for its protected south end for safe family enjoyment and a lazy malibu wave that comes around the point.

The area is well known for its fantastic golf courses: Newcastle (10th best in Australia), Pacific Dunes, Horizons and Nelson Bay to name a few.

In season, whale and dolphin watching provide great attraction and Stockton Sandunes provides for more active pursuits and 4 Wheel driving.

  • From Sydney take the M1(F3) Freeway North. 
  • At the end of the freeway turn right at the roundabout following signs to Taree and then move into the left lane to cross the Hexham bridge. 
  • About the time you reach the Hexham bridge you will be about half an hour away from Boat Harbour. Please phone our caretaker (contact details will be provided) to let her know that you are about half an hour away.
  • Turn first right to Williamtown into Tomago Road.
  • Follow the signs to Nelson Bay. 
  • At the Anna Bay roundabout turn right into Gan Gan road (signposted ‘Anna Bay, Boat Harbour’). 
  • A few kilometres past Anna Bay you will see the ‘Boat Harbour’ sign and about 100 metres further on turn right at the roundabout into Blanch Street. 
  • Follow Blanch Street and turn left at the first roundabout into Emerald Close. Turn first left into One Mile Close and drive right to the end. One Mile Ridge is located at the very top. Our caretaker will meet you at the front gates, give you the keys and remote and show you to ‘One Mile Retreat’. (The remote opens the One Mile Ridge complex front gate. Alternatively you can use the front door key in the key hole next to the letter boxes on the right of the gate). 
  • After entering the One Mile Ridge front gates ’ One Mile Retreat’ is located on the left. The single garage is located at the front of the beach house.
  • On the morning of your departure check out time is 10.00 am. Please arrange with our caretaker what time you wish to depart and she will meet you at the property to collect the keys.

Terms & conditions

Deposit of 50% non refundable is required to secure the booking. Payment of the rental deposit constitutes the clients acceptance of these Terms and Conditions.

Balance of the rental amount is required 7 days prior to arrival. If booking within the 7 day period, full payment is required at time of booking confirmation.

All bookings are subject to a security bond. Credit card details (Visa card or Master card) are taken prior to arrival. A preauthorised security bond payment of $600 is processed prior to arrival and is cancelled 10 business days after processing, subject to the terms and conditions in this document being met. The security bond is designed to cover any additional costs incurred including but not limited to, any breakage, damage or excess cleaning requirements, extra guests beyond those declared, etc. 

Cancellation, if caused by the client, money paid is not refundable unless the house is re-let for the entire period. If a refund is made due to the property being re-let then a $150 cancellation fee will apply.

The premises are available from 2.00 pm on the day of arrival and are to be vacated by 10.00 am on the day of departure.

You will be checked in and out by caretaker who will meet you at the property at a pre-arranged time.

All quality bed and bath linen is provided. Please bring your own beach towels.

Any keys/remotes not returned will be deducted from the security bond at $20 per normal key and $100 per remote control.

The owners will make every effort to ensure the property is available as booked. However the owners reserve the right to make alterations to bookings due to unforeseen circumstances.

To maintain a good standard for our guests we require certain conditions to be complied with:

8 guests maximum occupancy - no exceptions.

Parties and Functions are strictly prohibited. The price charged is for domestic use only and not commercial. Accordingly this rate does not allow for the extra wear associated with functions in terms of cleaning, garbage removal, wear and tear, repairs etc. Use contrary to this may result in loss of your bond and/or additional payments.

Damage, Breakages, Theft and Loss are the tenant’s responsibility during their stay.

Glass is strictly prohibited in the pool enclosure. If glass is found in the pool it requires the whole pool to be drained, thoroughly cleaned and refilled. 

The following are not permitted on the property:

  • PETS

Departure - the property should be left in a similar state to its condition on arrival. All food and rubbish including empty containers and bottles must be removed from the property. All utensils or appliances that have been used must be left in a relatively clean state; this includes the BBQ. Dirty plates must be cleaned. The apartment as a whole must be left in a relatively tidy state. This does not include the need to make beds, fold towels, vacuum or mop the floor (unless the floor is in a particularly untidy state). If the preceding is not achieved a minimum extra cleaning surcharge of $100 will apply.

Check-out time is 10.00 am, to allow time to prepare the property for the next guests.

Disturbance to our neighbours, including excessive noise, is prohibited and may result in termination of rental and loss of bond.

Please, no smoking inside the beach house.

Loss - the owners take no responsibility for the tenant's personal property.

Should a tenant require duplicate keys after hours a $50 service fee will be charged by the managing agent. If no spare key is available tenants may be liable for any costs involved in gaining entry to the premises.

Boats and boat trailers are unable to be parked within the One Mile Ridge grounds. 

Variations to these conditions may only be made by prior arrangements with the owner in writing.





Exceeded our expectations, clean, comfortable, beautiful view. We had an amazing time here.



Wonderful location at Port Stephens above One Mile Beach. The veranda sits in a perfect position to take in the scenery or read a book. Our 2 boys enjoyed access to the patrolled beach below - 10 min walk down the hill through the bush. The house was clean and comfortable.



We had a great stay while competing in the Port Stephens triathlon. The house overlooks the start line on One Mile Beach and also had a shared hot tub to soak our tired muscles after the race. We'll definitely book it again next year.



We had an incredible time! The place was extremely clean and well maintained. Having the option of the pool within the community was fantastic and loads of fun especially for night time swimming. The views were amazing, linen great and the BBQ was so clean! We really loved the place and will be back!



We spent 3 nights at one mile retreat with the family. Enjoyed it every sec! Beautiful surrounding and spectacular view. Rooms were clean and spacious. Owner was friendly and helpful. My kids didnt want to leave. We will definately come back again! Thanks for having us.
